Do people stray away from the philosophy of there religion and focus too much on figures wthin their religon?
For instance a lot of Christians I encounter, not all of them, get so over focussed on Jesus, while his teachings seem be non-existant. I understand that Christians believe Jesus and God are on and the same but what about all of the teachings of the Prophets that came before him? Why would God all of the sudden throw away them esage he had been delivering for thousands of years? There are so many Chrisitans I coem across that do this.
Additionally Muslims, and I am one, tend to get to overboard on the idea of the final Prophet Muhammad and that they beleive in God and only God. Yes I beleive in Muhammad and that there is only one God but again what about God's message?
I am sure this goes for a lot of other religions too but these are the best examples I can give from personal experience.
It is probably fair to say that there is spirituality and there is politics.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Vishnu says "Yeah, you believers of prophets and not their holy teachings, are forever doomed to argue, while the light of Mine is all around Me"
He goes on to say "Neither a hand chopper, nor a leg biter be".

Jesus is the Final Fullfillment of all scripture for all of mankind.
Prophet Muhammed can do nothing for you, although I do respect that you think of him as a great Prophet..
The Lord GOD is 1 and that is in the trinity
of GOD, the Father GOD the Son and GOD the Holy Spirit..
Only 1 is worthy of Praise and christians believe it is Jehovah, Jesus Christ...

I agree with you. I believe in God and I believe that Jesus had some very wise teachings, but I the teachings are the important thing. Not the man.

As a muslim, i can answer the part conserning my faith.
We do not neglect the role of the prophets before Muhammad (Peace be upon him), infact one of the main pillars of Islam is faith in the prophets and their message, since they all had the same tachings of monotheism (Islam), no one is obselete.
It's just that people need new teachings corresponding with new times.

Whoever you are and whatever you believe...I follow the MANY, MANY teachings of Jesus and that is my preference. I am a Christian, why would I follow someone else's teachings. Jesus IS the philosophy of our religion.

Jesus said "I Am the way, the truth, and the life..."
He is truth.....and He is God incarnate. The prophets of old longed for the day when God would visit them as Redeemer, Savior & friend.
Now we look for the blessed hope...and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ....who will come back for us soon.
