I am a light brunette with the ends that are orange, (from trying to dye it blonde). I want to dye my whole hair a dark almond brown. I want to get it done professionally so that its done right. My mom says it will just wash right out but if I get highlights it will stay in. I don't want highlights! Help!

You do not need highlights for it to stay in. That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Go to a salon and talk to a stylist/colorist. Make sure you get someone who has been doing hair a while, particularly mixing color. She will most likely want to cut the ends off, or if there is too much color on the ends, she will process the ends and the rest of the hair at different times, and use a diff. formula to get an even result. Good luck

If you get it done at a salon, it won't wash out. They may trim some of the orange ends because the color won't take to that, but you'll be a dark brunette. Pick a good place and they know what they're doing.

Trust me, if you get it done professionally and they know what they're doing, the color won't wash out. Your mom might feel hesistant about you dying your hair a totally different color which might be why she is saying this. But if you go to a good hair salon, you should be fine :)

My main concern is that you have two different colour on your hair now and this will affect the end result. get it done professionally. The colour won't wash out if you use the right shampoo and conditioner.

I saw my friend using a European "Betz Black-Hair Restorer" & the color is nice & natural. It actually gives a natural brown shade instead of the artificial dark shade.
You could email the company for info: BETZhair@gmail.com

Have you considered just cutting the orange ends, and let your beautiful light hair shine as it is ...

your mom is wrong! it will not wash out! i wouldn't go that drastic. the rule is one to two shades darker or lighter than what you have now. ask your stylist what would look best on you before you get it done!
