Im 19, catholic, (layman) and I want to leave right away, so i'll be working for the money to go or should I go to college and learn something before I go, I would rather go now because surely I would be trained by the missionaries once there. So my question is should I go now or should I study, is it nessecary?

College first. Then you can contribute even more to a mission. You will also have a chance to discover many various opportunities to help the world.

Being educated will enable you to do more in your journeys.

BTW, I love your avatar.

I would urge you very strongly to go to college first. If you feel God calling you to be a missionary in a Third World Country you are going to need a lot of support and training, some of it you can get from missionaries that are already over there, but some of it you cannot. You shouldn't be in any hurry to leave immediately.

I would recommend checking into colleges that offer missionary programs. I attended Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, AL that offers a program like that. You will get the strong biblical foundation you need in order to minister and witness to others, as well as the training and support you will need while you are over there. Living in another country, especially one that may be spiritually dark, can be very dangerous and is a completely different life than you are used to living.

In order to most effectively minister and tend to the needs of those you will be in contact with, you will need training before you go. Please spend some time in prayer about the next step of your journey. Pray, and take the time to listen to God's answers. He would not want you going into the mission field untrained and without the strong foundation you can get from attending a college with missionary training.

You are not going to get a college education if you are sent to a third world country. Get yourself an education first. You have plenty of time for all the other things that you want to do with your life. And you will be surprised at all the changes you will go through over the next four or five years. Like all youth you are impatient. I'll bet you are not even financially independent. Get your own life together, and you will be better equipped to help yourself and others.

How do you feel about drama? I spent 8 1/2 years in Covenant Players which is a Christian Drama Company. I've been in Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, Alaska & the Yukon, Southern Ontario, Scotland, England, Wales, Norway, Germany, Nigeria, Southern Texas and Nebraska. I learned as I traveled. I have a real heart for missions and have been on 3 short term missions (2 to Guatemala & I to Ireland) and am going on one in August to Jamacia.

It you want more info about Covenant Players and or missions feel free to e-mail me.

That is great that you want to accomplish your dreams but you really shouldn't put it off on other people like that because not every one believes in the same way as you do.

So What's the Mission of Your Life?

We often Miss this point.

And still live on and ON.........

Still we keep saying we have a MISSION........MISS-ON.

Would you please just have a look here:

Rather than trying to change our lives, why don’t we attempt to change our deaths?

Life can't be transformed, if death can't.

Don't. Missionary work is unethical because it robs aboriginal peoples of their culture.

You could study how to use the Check Spelling button. And remember this: there is no god.
