My kids and the neighborhood kids love to play with chalk by drawing on driveways and the sidewalks. They have been also writing their names I do not want their names plasterd all over the place outside, where people walking by can see them. The parents of the neighbors kids do not see anything wrong with this.

Maybe I am over reacting I don't have a problem with them having fun only writing their names and no I don't have my name on our mailbox.

Got to say, sadly, that you're probably right - especially if these are very young kids. Not a good idea for strangers to be able to easily find out what the names of the kids are, ("Hi, Ashley - I'm a friend of your mommy's..."). Hate to say it, but names probably best reserved for the back patio.

My Mum never let any of us write our names with Chalk on the side walk. It's a dangerous world out there...
It's kind of hard for you if all the other parents have no problem with it, But still I say you are right and at least don't let YOUR kids write their names with chalk...
Ask the other parents WHY they aren't nervous about having their kids names plastered all over the sidewalk...Maybe they think the area you are living in is relatively safe....

YOU ARE DEFINATELY NOT WRONG IF THE REASON IS YOU'RE LOOKING OUT FOR THE SAFETY OF THESE CHILDREN. A STRANGER COULD WALK BY, PICK A NAME FROM THE ONES WRITTEN ON THE SIDEWALK, AND KIDNAP ONE OF THE CHILDREN. BUT IF THE ONLY REASON YOU DON'T WANT THE CHILDREN WRITING ON THE SIDEWALK IS BECAUSE YOU'D BE EMBARRASED WHAT SOMEONE MIGHT THINK, THEN I WOULD AGREE WITH THE OTHER MOMS. THE NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS WILL EVENTUALLY GROW OUT OF IT AND THE CHALK WASHES OFF IN THE RAIN. THEN WHEN THE KIDS FIND SOMETHING ELSE THAT INTERESTS THEM, YOU'LL HAVE SOMETHING ELSE TO COMPLAIN TO THE PARENTS ABOUT UNTIL NOBODY LETS THEIR KIDS GO OUT TO PLAY.

People probably pay no attention to the names on the sidewalks. Ilet my kids write on the concrete and they can write whatever they like in a kid manner of course. People can also see your last name on your mailbox, does that bother you?

I don't see a problem with it, chalk isn't permanent if you wanted to remove it because of company you could always just hose down the sidewalk.

I dont see anything wrong with it either...I dont think that them writing their names outside with sidewald chalk will cause any harm, but hey...your the mom...whatever you say goes.
