I bought a box from the produce section, but most went bad rather quickly, in about 4 days. They didn't show any signs of going bad when I bought them. I hear this thing about cutting them and sprinkling powdered sugar over them to make them last longer. Is that true? Any similar remedies? Thanks!!

By putting sugar (granulated or powdered) gives the strawberries a syrup that can stay a little longer in the fridge. Freezing them works too but they get a little mooshy. When I buy strawberries, I put the sugar on them and if I know I'm not going to get to them within few days, then I put them in the freezer.

Always store them in the refrigerator. If you don't use them within a few days FREEZE them on a cookie sheet, when frozen shake off the sheet and put in Zip Lock bags into the freezer and use later when you want them. They are wonderful when thawed just a little and popped in your mouth, so sweet and juicy, also good in smoothies and chopped up into a strawberry sundae (with ice cream or whipped cream and twinkies).

Rinse and lay on a parchment covered cookie sheet and freeze. When frozen place in freezer bags with air removed.

You can put them on a cookie sheet - make sure they don't touch - and freeze them. Once completely frozen, put them in a ziploc bag.

Only freezing, and of course eating. They won't last long very perishable.
