Honey, it sounds to me like you're really motivated, which is great! I'd say 40 lbs. loss would be perfect for you; even 30 lbs. You're smart laying off of the soda; full of sugar and salt. Drink water, water, water!
For you age, you will need to be on a moderate diet of healthy foods. Nothing drastic! Do some research on "Sugarbusters" diet. It's all wholesome foods that keep you full and keep your body running smoothly. It will explain the relationship between good carbs and bad ones to how your body reacts to these and turns them to sugars and fats. You might want to enlist the help of your parents also. You can't do this on your own. You need your folks to go along with you for your health. Clear out all of the junk food and read "Sugarbusters". Get some moderate exercise, say walk for 30 minutes 3X a week or ride a bike. You can expect to lose about 10 lbs. a month, or 2 lbs. a week...maybe more! Praying for you! Godloveya!

The best way to lose weight and make the loss last is just a matter of eating right and exercises. Other "diets" are not good for a young girls body, and the results don't last. Eat more Vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and low fat meats, and get out a PLAY! I remember when i was 14 going swimming with friends, or riding our bikes places, or even walking around the neighborhood all of these things are good for you.
You should also get your family involved. Let your parents know you want to be healthier and ask for their help at meal time. I'm guessing they do the cooking in the household, so let them know how you feel. Is your mother also trying to get healthy? Maybe you can look up recipes online and go shopping together.
The best advice I can give is gain knowledge on what is good for you. You know for example, that cake and ice cream are a sometimes food...not an everyday food. You also know that being active is better for you than sitting and watching TV. What you should be concerned with is not your weight, but your Health.....take good care of your body and it will show.
Good luck to you, and try not to let your weight control your mind. Remember that you are a good person who deserves to treat herself well, and be treated well by others.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

omg i have the same problem...im 14, 5'4" and 165lbs, i have done soccer and swimming but they still wont help me, i wanna lose the fat and not gain ne more muscle. the only thing i can think of is diet--for breakfast have a fruit, some cheese, and a lowfat bagel, what do u drink instead of pop? you should drink water or lowfat cranberry juice, for lunch have lowfat wheat sandwich with cheese and non fat ham, then for dinner have non fat soup or something, and ONLY ONCE A WEEK HAVE A RED MEAT!!! VERY IMPORTANT, if ur mom is making pot roast dont over eat and have a small plate. im still working on my weight, also drink lots of 2% or skim milk and lowfat yogert is good too.
also veggies r good and CELERY IS A NEGATIVE CAL!!! eat it!!
and for running wake up extra earliy in the morning to run around the block or over a couple streets--maybe a half mile everyday, strech before too, little tv is best u r more likely to eat junk food if u watch tv. i hope i helped u and i should try this too lol :))
good luck and god bless!
also since its lent this will help ur meat layoff.

You can have a soda every now and again...just don't have several in a day. Treat your self...if you don't then chances of sticking to your weigh loss program won't work.
You need to get exercise. Start out slow and work your way up. You need to start by doing Cardio...if you start out doing 3 days a week and work up to doing more.
Leslie Samsone Walk off the pounds is a great workout. She has a 1 mile, 2 mile, and 3 miles workout tapes. You could pick some up and do them.
Also try cutting down on your sweets...but still treat yourself to one sweet thing a week...like on the weekends!
This is just my opinion...I am not an expert!!!!

Don't type in caps.
Join a sports team after school. You will get a lot of exercise and have fun in the process.
You don't have to be good, you main goal is to do the drills.
Also, ask your Mom and Dad to buy fresh fruits to keep in the house for you to snack on whenever you want.
1 apple is 90 calories
1 bag of Fritos is 360 calories

Well, I'm about your age. so let's see. To keep myself in shape I just walk EVERYWHERE. It really helps. I also eat mainly vegies and such (but maybe it's because I'm me and I love Vegies)! but doing those things really do help me. I also drink mainly tea, which helps. I hope this might help a little. You just need to try and keep yourself from doing those unhealthy things.
