I am 22, 165pds, looking to put on 10 or 15 pounds of muscle mass.

How often should I run so as to not stifle my weight gain? How long should I run for?

Thanks.

Limit your running to higher intensity but shorter durations, such as 15-20 minutes.

Run for only 20 minutes 3-5 times per week. If you run longer than 20 minutes your body starts to use muscle tissue for energy. How many muscular long distance runners have you ever seen?

I think you need to go to a local gym and ask one of the on-sight people who coordinate training because what you're doing is cardio, not weight training. You need weight training to build up muscle mass; you need a program to follow and a proper diet. Running alone is not going to cut it. You can also check out Michael Thurman's program. The man can work magic! Godloveya!

30 minutes on days when you do weight lifting, 45mins to one hour on days when you do not.

Also, protein shakes after weightlifting are supposed to help your body so it doesn't burn muscle to get fuel.
