My German Shepherd just turned 2, and I think he needs another set of rabies shots. How often do you take your dog to the vet when he's healthy all the time?

If the dog is healthy I only take them to the vet once a year for their vaccination. After the first rabie shot the dog is to get another one the following year. From then on they get another every three years. That is how it is in my state. Ask your vet to be sure.

Mine go every month to be weighed and get heartworm meds and lots of attention from everyone in the office.I think it's important that dogs be shown that not every trip to the vet is a bad or uncomfortable experience. No matter how clean the office is-If they've done surgery-your dog can smell the blood before the doors opened and it freaks them out some.
But as for shots call your vet and ask when the next ones due.Mine got their one year rabie shot at 4 mos.and the following year they both got 3 yr.shots.They're cheaper to get in the long run.But they still get the distemper/parvo shot yearly.

If the dog is healthy he only needs to go once a year for a check up and rabies shot.

My dog just goes once a year for his annual shots and check-up unless something is wrong.

But I buy his Hartgard and Advantage from our vet and only get a couple doses of each at a time - so I take Sonny with me to buy these every couple of months because he loves the vet's office and this way he gets to visit without getting shots or something else done to him every time he is there.

Once a year for a check-up and shots. Rabies shots can be good for one, two, or three years depending on the age of your dog.

At least every year you should visit the vet with your pet! Rabies shots are also free and often dispalyed on t.v. and in the newspaper where and when thy wil offering them to your area! some places even do it for a small fee, but it's well worth it!

Dogs should go to the vet at least once a year for a checkup even if there are no visible concerns. More often if there are health issues.
