China has had its share of terrorist attacks, but the outside world rarely hears about them because the government covers the stories up. Terrorist attacks are meant to inspire fear, so if noone hears about them they can't succeed, right?
I suspect 2008 will go off without any terrorist attacks. The seperatists in Xinjiang, for instance, are trying to attract sympathy from the outside world, and their cause won't be well-served by attacking the Olympics.

I think China is more afraid of supporters of a Free Tibet and Formal Taiwan Independece and groups such as Falun Gong and muslims who want to liberate East Turkistan than they are of terrorists. Wait, Beijing calls those people all terrorists, don't they. In that case, no. The games are going to be a protest and smog filled disaster. Even if that all goes well, if the Chinese win, nationalism will kick into overdrive and if they lose they will accuse the rest of the world of cheating.

the US will win lots of the gold by way of fact of its great quantity of entries. this could be a socio ecconomic besides as a inhabitants win. many countries merely can not arise with the money for to compete. So on a similar time as I help this u . s . a ., I dont think of its an quite precise ability of determining "the desirable u . s . a ." in my opinion I even have not one lick of activity interior the Olympics or perhaps much less of an activity interior the host u . s . a ., i will mourne the shortcoming of television viewing time which would be incurred by ability of the wretched experience.

In this day and age, I don't believe any event in any location will be 100% safe from terrorist. Terrorism is now just a part of life in the world right now.

Yes.
There are so many Chinese spies, they can effectively follow every visitor that attends the Olympics.
China is counting on a successful Olympics to showoff to the world how great China is. There will be more security there then a presidential visit.
If you have a lot riding on something, would you let it go wrong?

I think it will be safer. The Chinese government do not take rubbish, they will execute these terrorist in a heartbeat unlike the US who will put them in custody for ages while the ACLU & human rights monkey spend money trying to get them out.
