I called him to ask if I could bring anything along on my way home from work and he asked for some bagged spring mix (lettuce). I added the tomato's and the cucumber for salad because I thought just eating plain lettuce wouldnt be very good. I also bought some salad dressing which was a good thing because he did not have any.
I get there and he has prepared 3 iron skillets with olive oil. 1 had scallops, and 1 had shrimp and 1 had some kind of white fish, so we sat down to eat the salad and fish and he brings a glass of orange juice to the table for me with some white foam on it. I asked him what it was and he said "a Harvey wallbanger". He didnt offer a glass of water, an iced tea or anything else except this drink full of alcohol. What do you think is with this? Is he becoming demented or am I just being too picky. He is 54 yrs old. What was he thinking?

He is always trying to get me in the sack. That is not a problem. He is a typical man, but we know each other well and I was just trying not to hurt his feelings and say "what the crap is this?"
He drinks a lot. I cant help but wonder if the alcohol is jelling his brain.

Well, he asked you to pick up lettuce, but had no tomatos, cucumbers or even salad dressing, maybe his Harvey Wallbanger was all that was available and he thought he was being creative or maybe he was just trying to make you a drink to relax since you had just gotten off of work. If the alcoholic drink was offensive to you, you should have said something then or asked him without making him feel like an a** if it would be possible for you to get something non alcoholic. He's 54 years old, he should be able to take a little thing like you not appreciating his taste for alcoholic beverages.

Well sounds like he tried very hard to impress you, maybe you should cut the man a little slack? I mean if someone brought you this drink in a bar then i'd say yes, you should be alarmed but you're talking about your boyfriend so I assume this is someone you know and trust.
By the way it's fairly normal for a harvey wallbanger to have some white foam on the top! Next time just tell him you want water if you want water. :)

well, he was probably so enthusiastic about serving you dinner that his hosting skill went a little haywire. The Harvey Wallbanger is an actual cocktail- vodka, liquore galliano, and OJ, so that's not made up, in case you wondered. He should have asked if you wanted to try one, and even if you did, he should have had other options available.
I'd take it at face value- that he's kind of inexperienced in the kitchen, but if there is a next time, ask for something w/o alcohol if that's what you really want. But he sounds kind of cute to me!

Sounds to me like you were treated to an expensive meal.
That drink uses Galliano not just another cheep liquor
Picky is right ,,,you didn't comment on the food.
I think he may have thought he was impressing someone with taste.

He is ur bf right, and not just a date? Why are you so suspiscious? I dont think he s trying to get u drunk to have sex with u, I mean he s already ur bf, he doesnt need to do that. I think the poor chap's just trying too hard to make it a perfect beautiful dinner. You shd have just told him you wld rather have ice water instead.

Next time, just tell him you're not big on drinking alcohol or bring your own drinks! Then you won't be stuck with anything nasty.

All you had to do was ask for something else to drink. Why do women complicate everything? That's why I'm single and so happy.
