i see what you mean. in communism they try to keep religion out of the governing rule in any way possible and atheists don't believe in god(s), still, Atheism and Communism basically have nothing to do with each other, you aren't a communist if you're atheist...

Karl Marx wrongly believed religion was the opium of the people the former Soviet Union suppressed Religion burnt down churches etc. Christians are imprisoned in China and North Korea some are tortured because they wont give up their faith. No i don't think atheists worship Karl Marx but some still think he is a great intellectual when he theories are found to be wrong.

Imagine that an idiot tells you that 2 + 2 = 4. Will you go around proclaiming it to be false because a dunce uttered it? In any case, simply put, most communists have been atheists; but most atheists have NOT been communists. And just in case that wasn't clear: 99% of the morons attending the Hampshire Rehabilitation School are Christians, but only a small number of Christians are morons.

And by the way, Karl Marx denounced those who would "forbid" religion in the name of socialism. His understanding of institutions, and the role they play, was vastly superior to that of his epigones.

Communism preaches against religion, but that doesn't mean all atheists are Communists. Atheists do not believe in any god at all, hence they wouldn't be worshiping Marx. True, there are Communist atheists, but that doesn't mean atheist = Communist. That's like saying that all Christians have blue eyes simply because there are Christians with blue eyes.
So there you go: Communism and atheism can coexist in one person's beliefs, but one doesn't always mean the other

Communism was a movement against the concentrated wealth of the traditional aristocracy, the industrial bourgeoisie, and the churches. Institutionalized atheism was a function of the effort to disrupt these power bases, and in the totalitarian regimes, a means of neutralizing the power of the church.

If all Communists are atheists, it does not follow that all atheists are Communists.

In the 20th century, atheism, though still a minority view, became increasingly common in many parts of the world, often being spread as aspects of a wide variety of other, broader philosophies, such as existentialism, Objectivism, secular humanism, nihilism, relativism, logical positivism, Marxism, feminism,[70] and the general scientific and rationalist movement. In some cases, these philosophies became associated with atheism to the extent that atheists were vilified for the broader view, such as when the word atheist entered popular parlance in the United States as synonymous with being unpatriotic (cf. "godless commie") during the Cold War. Some "Communist states", such as the Soviet Union, promoted state atheism and opposed religion, often by violent means;[71] Enver Hoxha went further than most and officially banned religion, declaring Albania the world's first Atheist state. These policies helped reinforce the negative associations of atheism, especially where anti-communist sentiment was strong, despite the fact that many prominent atheists, such as Ayn Rand, were anti-communist.[72]

The same as the relationship between fish and bicycles.

Some atheists I know are democratic socialists, but many are Libertarian in their leanings. I certainly am. I was a Republican before the GOP started mating with the Jerry Falwell's.

Think it through. Atheists deny the existence of an authoritarian uber being and are repelled by the notion of an authoritarian theocratic state. How likely are we to embrace a totalitarian state simply because it replaces "god" with "state." I think I know one atheist who's actually anarchosyndicalist out of the hundreds I've met.

there is no relationship. atheists do NOT worship Karl Marx. Read a book. Get an education. Don't ask stupid questions. Have a nice day.

Carl Marx was an Atheist. Marxist communism requires that religion be abolished as it is "the Opiate of the masses" Not all communists are atheists and fewer atheists are communists.

Atheism is a dogma not unlike any religion. It is ok as long as it does not become the official ideology of a political system. In communism, it is just that: a part of the ideology.

(I had the "privilege" of growing up in a communist country. We had SCIENTIFIC ATHEISM as a subject at the university. A mandatory subject, can you imagine that. What was funny about it was that the professor was an ex-priest ...)
