No but in victorian times due to the fact their were more woman then men- woman have men a diamond ring!!!
I would personally save your money for the wedding band.

Traditionally the answer is no... but you could suggest getting him a commitment ring or buying his wedding band.

Normally no. However I did but I was also moving to the other side of the country and waiting for him to save up and join me here so I guess it depends on your situation and if you want to.
