I personally do not.
I think that our soul, or our essence, that thing which makes us different from animals and as humans different from one another, that "THING" I think lives on...
I think our soul leaves the body after our death. I think that if our death is sudden, like in the case of an accident, the soul is confused and must be guided to the afterlife.
I think that if a person leads a long, happy life without remorse and unfinished business that the soul departs and moves on easily, and quickly.
I think a soul has ONE SHOT here on Earth, in an earthly body to live a good life. I don't think there are do-overs. I think that a soul isn't judged in the afterlife as to how it lives. I think that judgement happens here on Earth. I think the cares and problems of Earth are meaningless in the afterlife.
That's what I think.

According to the Bible, "It is appointed for a man to die ONCE, and aftewards, to be judged [by GOD.] If we were to come back over and over, living a new life each time, this passage of scripture would no longer be true. But it IS true, my dear friend, so, my answer is, "No. We do not come back and start all over again as a new human being, or an animal, or an inanimate object, or anything else."

A newborn similar to a dead person? Why does that just seem wrong to me?

i believe in reincarnation.
i think that people are meant to perfect their souls as much as possible in order to contribute fully to the transcendental power of All. each life a person lives holds lessons & is an opportunity to gather experience and knowledge, bringing them closer to enlightenment and benefitting All there is. i also beleive that everyone chooses when, where, and to whom to be born, when they are in an unbiased state, in order to have the experiences that will enable them to learn the most. pain & suffering are often the tools of the lesson.
(also, i believe in past lives because of personal experience-- having had 'waking dreams' of having female 'circumcision' performed on me ever since i can remember [around 3 or 4] and not knowing about what it was until i was much older)

I think it is entirely possible. Seems to me like one lifetime is not enough to really evolve a soul.
Plus I have one nephew who is so similar in looks and personally to my long dead great-grandfather, that it's a little creepy (when he was a baby, he used to stare endlessly at the portrait hanging on the wall)
And more recently, when my grandmother died, I could swear I felt my grandfather's presence coming for her.

so you are talking about reincarnation? Personally, I dont believe in it but I know that many countries/ppl believe that. Just because ppl look familar, I dont believe it is because someone died and came back into a newborn. where did you get that idea? I would like to hear more information. Interesting thought...

no, then what would be the point of dying? if a newborn looks like the beloved, then maybe that newborn is carrying their genes

Family traits are in the DNA... my son is too much like my dad to be comfortable, but my dad didn't die until my son was 5, so it can't be reincarnation. Many behaviors, as well as physical traits, can be inherited.
