They're recycled into newer deities.
For example, El and Yahweh were melted down and mixed in with some Jesus to create the Christian God.

They rent rooms in a cheap hotel and get drunk and melancholic on a daily basis, plus spend their evenings telling stories from the different wars they've organized and participated to - hey now that I'm thinking, they'd look really great as the lodgers from Million Dollars Hotel!
(I hope they get a retirement pay, at least)

Gods only die off when the people who worship them die off. As long as the folk are still there, so too are the Gods.
Most of the Old Gods are still around. Thor is still mighty. ;-)
Lol, and Bad Squirrel is right, some of them get "melted down" and fashioned into new deities. A good example is the Christian god, he's an combination of a bunch of previous deities.

They're recycled into new gods.... if you take Osiris, Dionysus, Attis, Adonis, Mithras, Bacchus and a couple other older god saviors and put them all together you get the complete story of Jesus - exact same actions, parables, speeches and so on.
The rest though are just biding their time. Yahweh had better watch out for Thor's mighty hammer and the coming Ragnorak.

They DO play poker. With Elvis... and Tupac. Every once in a while, they send Elvis to get donuts... hence the Elvis donut shop sightings. And they don't play with money, they play with souls.

They were "things" that man made to worship..because those things allowed him to be his own "god".
1 Corinthians 8:4
As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
So, what mankind has done is substituted, his "former gods" with new ones. Greed, Avarice, Lust...those are some of the "new gods" today..they will burn..just as the old ones did.

There is a motel for them outside of Las Vegas. They have theatrical agents and can do special gigs for any remaining believers or special shows. ;-) They room with the special devils of each faith, one could never exist without the other.
