About 2 weeks ago I got a perm, it was absolutly horrible. My hair was way too curly, and a couple hours after I got home it started to go straight and get really frizzy. I called the salon and they had me come in for a conditioner treatment and that didn't really work, I called yesterday and she wants me to come in again but to straighten it, what is involved with a chemial straightening? Is it going to break my hair off even more? Please hurry and answer my appt. is a 12:30. Thanks.

i would go...its better than having half curly hair. before you go get some conditioner and put it on you dry hair put a shower cap on then wrap it in a towel for half an hour then rinse. that should lessen the chance of breakage and leave you hair soft!

It will take from 2 to 5 hours and it will damage your hair. It might make your hair become even frizzier, as a lot of damage has already been done. I have had 2 chemical straighteners (I used the CHI system) and they left my hair limp, frizzy, and badly damaged. Also, it took 3 years for it to completely grow off. I don't think that you should do this treatment right now, give your hair a week or two and it'll probably start to relax on its on.

Here's the process of chemical straightening:
1) The stylist will wash your hair with a special shampoo.
2) They'll blow dry it straight and use a flat iron to make sure everything is super straight. (This might hurt when they half to straighten the pieces of hair near your scalp... it burned me in a few places)
3) They'll apply a cream all over your hair, as if they were dying it.
4) They wash your hair again.
5) They blow dry/straighten it again.
6) Sometimes they have to repeat steps 3-6 over again, if they treatment didn't work as well as you had wished.

chemicals can be harsh to your hair depending on the type you may have. Maybe your hair is to thin or soft and that is why the perm did not work. You may need to use something more stronger but i think you should wait a little longer because your hair has already gone through a lot in such short time. i just suggest you wash your hair and use a good conditioner on your own and get something to help control the frizz and let the first chemical wear off a little more before going back in.

I would not straighten my hair after all the chemical process it just went through. I'd have the salon write up a certificate to give you a free starightening and I'd use it no less than 2 months later and in the meantime use something mosturizing and get some protein hair packs and let it sit for as long as you can and try to not blow dry it unless absolutely necessary and after its dry use Paul Mitchell super skinny hair serum for shine and to help w/ the frizzies. I believe in super skinny!!

As a hairstylist I would not recommend that you get the straightening. It could be possibly damaging to the hair and cause breakage.

If you just don't like the curls use a flat-iron with a thermal protectant. Eventually the curls with tone down and grow out.

Do NOT so anything else to your hair!!! It is overprocessed and any more chemicals to it will damage it even further!!! You need to condition and cut!! As a cosmetology instructor, I have dealt with this qustion and have seen this done and there is no miracle cure!!
