I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.
It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.
Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.
Good LUCK!

HI I was told to do a combo of both. The best thing I was told to invest in is a heart monitor. It tracks you to see if you are working out to much or not enough. It tracks how long you are in the target range for burning calories and it tells you how many calories you have burned. I found one on eBay for about $50.(well worth the investment)
Also, water, water, water when you get the feeling of hunger drink a glass of water.
i agree with the food journal.. keeping track of what you eat and adding why your eating it is wonderful. you can then see are you eating more for stress, boredom or are you actually hungry.
Weight watchers is a great program because you can eat everything just in smaller amounts and it teaches you that if you want something special just work out alittle more or cut back somewhere else.
this is a lifestyle change not a diet.. when you think of it that way it is not as much of a diet!!
Best of luck!!

there are arguments for either way, but I've read that you should do cardio first, then weights. the cardio gets oxygen into your tissues so it's easier to lift the weights. walking is important, it's the easiest, best exercise. swimming is great, too, if you can. yes, write down what you eat to keep track of calories and fat grams and whatever else you want to count. drink lots of water, too. good luck! you can do it!

I've heard that you should do 10 minutes of cardio to warm your body up, then stretch, then do weights, then after do another 20 minutes of cardio and there's your whole workout. It's supposed to be the most efficient.
