Islam clearly teaches that a woman is a full-person under the law, and is the spiritual equal of a male. Also, according to Islamic Law, women have the right to own property, operate a business and receive equal pay for equal work. Women are allowed total control of their wealth, they cannot be married against their will and they are allowed to keep their own name when married. Additionally, they have the right to inherit property and to have their marriage dissolved in the case of neglect or mistreatment. Also, Islam does not consider woman an "evil temptress", and thus does not blame woman for the "original sin". Women in Islam participate in all forms of worship that men participate in. Actually, the rights that Islam gave to women over 1400 years ago were almost unheard of in the West until the 1900s. Less than fifty years ago in England and America, a woman could not buy a house or car without the co-signature of her father or husband!

I think story of Adam and Even has been continually misrepresented and misused by many Christians over the centuries, but I also contend that in the world TODAY in some places people who practice Islam mistreat women in a way that goes beyond "disrespect." Honor killings, genital mutilation, rape, murder...these things go far beyond a lack of respect for women. In these cases women are a lesser being than men and kept subjugated. So I think the word "respect" is misused here.

As to the story of Adam and Eve, I believe that story has been misrepresented for centuries in many ways, but that the antiquated interpretation of it has faded. I don't know anywhere in the world that large groups of christians consider women to be an inferior and weaker being.

I study in the original manuscripts. What is called "original sin" is an idea that comes from certain religions - its not in the manuscripts at all. The first sin ever comitted was satan starting a huge war when he wanted to be in the position of Christ. That was in the previous earth age.
Yes, there are three earth ages in the manuscripts: one that was, the one now, and one last one to come. You can read of the three earth ages in Peter.
Nobody is paying for the sins of Adam or of Eve. They pay for their own sins, and nobody else does. You pay for your own sin; If you commit a like-sin of Eve, then you will pay for that.
God knows that most of what is in the manuscripts is simply not taught in the majority of todays churches.
This is why Biblical illiteracy runs rampant.

Read the beginning of Genesis.

Also in the new testament it writes that the woman was deceived by the snake, but the man knew & chose to disobey God. So, the sin nature happens through the sperm of the man, who willingly/ knowingly disobeyed God.

The sin nature is inherited and is the tendency to willingly/ knowingly rebel against Gods law and Gods Word & Love.

That is why the promised seed of the women is to be the one who defeats the serpents deception. Jesus was born of the Womans seed (Gen. 3). He was like the first Adam before the fall & spiritual death. He was tempted likewise by the serpent in his flesh, but overcame the temptations and didn't sin against God the Father. Isaiah wrote that a sign will be that a virgin will give birth to a son & He will be named Immanuel (God with us).

Christ and Christians respect women. What about the time when the Pharasees brought the woman who was found in the act of adultery (they forgot the man) before Jesus. Jesus wrote in the ground (I think the 10 commandments). These men wanted to stone the woman. Jesus asked, "He who is without sin cast the first stone.". They all dropped their stones & left. Jesus asked the woman, "Where are your accusers?". She said they had left. Jesus said, "Neither do I accuse you (Jesus forgave her & he was without sin.). Go and sin no more.". And she loved Him much, because she was forgiven much.

There is also a story about Mohammad when a woman pregnant with child from the act of adultery. Mohammad told the woman to leave and come back when the baby is born. She did. Then he told her to come back when the baby is weened. She did. Then he took the child and had her killed for her adultery. She was afraid of Mohammad much & she was murdered much.

Two very different Prophets, in my opinion.

Also, to correct the concept of original sin. We don't inherit sins, just the sin nature, from grandpa Adam. We choose in life whether to do the sins of our parents or not. The iniquities (sinful addictions) are passed on to the 3rd & 4th generations who (choose to) hate God. The blessings are passed on to the 1000s generations of those who love God.

Some of us Christians believe that the concept of original sin is hogwash, pure and simple. We are judged according to our own sins, not someone else's.

Their is no such as original sin on the bible. A sin can not be inherited by anybody. Your sin can be inherited by your son. It is not the whole concept of the whole christianity but the sole concept of the Roman Catholic Church who took that doctrine from the vatican or the pope, priest and their bishops.

Adams original sin, Eve being tempted and deceived by Satan, but Adam knew full well what he was doing without deception and took from the fruit anyhow.

But.... this I do not understand what that has to do with respect of women now or in the past, here or there or wherever.

According to Christian tradition, original sin is the general condition of sinfulness (lack of holiness) into which human beings are born (Psalm 51:5). Original sin is also called hereditary sin, birth sin, or person sin. Used with the definite article ("the original sin"), it refers to the first sin, committed when Adam and Eve succumbed to the serpent's temptation. This Biblical story of original sin is the sign and seed of future evil choices and effects for the whole human race. Christians usually refer to this first sin as "the Fall". Original sin is distinguished from actual sin as cause and effect: "a bad tree bears bad fruit" (Matthew 7:17, NIV). Original sin is not "personal" (in the modern sense of this word)—in that it is not the consequence of personal choice or personal failure to act—but nevertheless it is "personal" in the sense that every individual person is personally subject to the effects of original sin.

This has nothing to do with respecting women.

True indeed. They blame the woman for all the troubles in the world. And many thing man is superior to the woman! Its just the same concept with a different pair of underwear on!

Sin is a choice by all. Each choose to do what they know is wrong and then justify their actions.

So does it matter who sinned first? Adam also eat the same apple, did he not?

Who's sin was worse?

Are you a good person? What a question, most of us believe that we are good people because we can look around and find someone that is far worse than we are. We can always point to the things that we think make us a good person.

But how good are we really? Dare we take this test and look at ourselves and see if we really are good? Hmmm.

If you are willing try this and see just how good a person you are.

The Good Person Test.

How will you do? Pass or fail?

Have you ever told a lie?
Doesn't matter how big or small, just a lie.
What does that make you? Before answering think about this, if I told you a lie what would you call me? A liar?

Have you ever stolen anything? Cost doesn't matter, a piece of gum, failed to give back an ink pen that you borrowed, anything.
What does that make you?

Jesus said, "You know the saying of old, you shall not commit adultery but I say that if look at someone to lust after them you have committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever lusted?

Jesus said that hate is equal to murder.
Have you ever hated anyone?

See one day we all are going to stand before a Holy God on Judgment Day and he is going to judge us based on His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. These are just 4 of them and how did you do? Guilty? I have broken all of these and more, what about you? How well will you do on Judgment Day?

If we break just one point of God's Law we are guilty of breaking all the law and Gods Wrath abides upon us all. Based on God's Law we are all guilty and all are deserving of punishment. But there is an out for us.

Jesus paid the price for each one of us, took on himself God's Wrath so we wouldn't have to face it on our own. Jesus was beaten, battered, bleed and died so we wouldn't have to face God's Wrath. He rose again so that we would life in his presence. Our crimes, His payment.

The real question is where will you stand on Judgment Day. Pay yourself or have it paid for you. Think about it.
