I say go for 30 minutes, if you're at home just do it when watching tv and the time flies.
It's not about calories, don't pay attention to that so much, you won't burn what a machine tells you, you'll burn what you burn. However if you do it in the mornings you'll burn more energy through the day. If you do it at night you'll burn some of the energy you've consumed in the day. Morning is best but do it whenever you feel the best, because then you'll do it the best.
That said, noone can tell you what you can lose in a month, but start a diary and keep it up. Weigh yourself often(it's key appearantly) and see how much you've lost by the end of the month.
Also if you do some weight lifting it'll help, because the more muscle you have the more fat your burn. You won't look like Hercules unless you spend hours and hours at the Gym every day and take in a lot more calories.

Generally, it takes 3500 burned calories (excess) to lose one pound of fat. Using this formula, it's possible to see a loss of about 6 pounds in a month. Here's the math;
250 calories x 3 sessions = 750 calories burned per day
750 calories x 7 days = 5250 calories burned per week
5250 calories x 4 weeks = 21000 calories burned per month
21000 calories/3500 calories = 6 pounds of body fat
Of course, this doesn't take into consideration any muscle generation you will put on. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat. You may not see that fat loss on the scale for this reason, but you will look better as the fat is burned and lean muscle mass generates. It also doesn't take into consideration your nutrition plan. If you are burning 250 calories each time, yet you are still consuming more calories than you burn each day (that includes resting metabolic burn rate too, so don't get discouraged), then you will still gain weight. The caloric burn you need to be concerned with is EXCESS calories.

If you only have a 1500 calorie diet and are losing 250 calories 3 times a day, you would loose more weight then with a 2000 calorie diet. It all determines on your body structure. You best be would be going to a dietician or a nutritional expert.

Well, you first have to find out what your resting metabolic rate is, meaning, how many calories you burn just by being alive during the day. Use the formula below;
Adult male: 66 + (6.3 x body weight in lbs.) + (12.9 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)
Adult female: 655 + (4.3 x weight in lbs.) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)
Once you find that out, multiple that number by 10% or .10 and subtract that number (which is your thermic effect or the amount of energy your body needs to just burn calories, whihc is your internal weight loss program in itself). Add the extra 750 in your exercise and you have your total burned calories for the day.
Now minus your avg calorie intake from the formula above to the totla calorie burned, i.e. 2500 daily calorie intake, -250 (10% thermic) and -750 (workout) leaves me with 1500 calories for the day.
K last step...take the difference from 1500 and 2500, whihc is 1000 calories and using the formula below, convert calories to pounds; 1 pound = 9.74351079 × 1015 calories. Since on avg, 3500 calories = 1 pound, using the above numbers, you're 1000 loss would equal little less than 1/2 a pound a day.
Remember, though, take care of yourself. DON'T over do it, especially if you're just starting the 750 burn a day regiment. Also, if you are new to this, DEFINATELY contact your doctor and go over your plan. Eat right (try to stay away from processed foods), drink plenty of water (here's a intake link pounds and http://www.csgnetwork.com/humanh2owater.html) and always, ALWAYS get at least 8 hours of quality sleep; sleep is vital. Also, find your target heartrate and when exercising, keep within that for maximum benefits.

One pound of fat = 3500 calories. If you want to lose a pound of fat, you must burn that many calories MORE than the amount you take in daily.
An average woman needs about 1500 to 2000 calories a day to maintain existing weight (this varies depending on age and weight, but it's a simple guide).
If you eat 1100 calories a day, then you will burn 400 a day - it will take about 9 days to lose one pound. If you add 350 calories of exercise to the mix each day, you'll lose the weight in five days.

Don't think of how much calories your burning, think of how much you're consuming. Multiple your weight by 10 if your a woman and 11 if your a man and then multiple it by 1.5 if you exercise regularly, and 1.3 if you don't. Now with your final number subract 500. If you eat that many calories a day you will lose weight at an average of a pound of week. So keep exercising, but watch how much calories you eat as well.

You'll probably only lose about 10 pounds.
BUT you may see amazing changes in your body!
It's not as easy as "If I burn x amount of calories x times a day, I'm going to lose x amount of weight." There's no equation. We don't know how much you weigh, your exercise level, etc.

well to lose one pound of fat you have to burn 3500 calories. so lets see 3x250 is 750. 750*30 (days in most months) is 22500 divide that by 3500 and you get 6.42 so just doing the bicycle you would lose 6.42 pounds in a month. That does not include cutting back on calories.

there is an awesome free website, http://sparkpeople.com that I use - you enter in your weight, how many calories you burn a week, and a date you are aiming for (if you put in lets say March 31), and it tells you how many calories you need to eat to lose 2 lbs a week (its recommended that one does not lose more than that to be healthy and keep it off) till your goal date... its really cool. you can also track your food on there, and there are recipes and message boards, and articles on exercising etc

if your burn off about 3000-3500 more calories than you take in you will lose a pound. so that is about 5-7 pounds a month.
