Ok, if Johnny gets his drivers liscense and goes to the bar and drinks a lot of beer and then gets in his car and runs over a child, should we ban Budwieser being served in America?

It occurs to me that while we state "the book didn't influence", or the "beer didn't drive the car", we also have television and radio full of advertisements that try to influence us to buy a car, or got on a trip, or visit a web site.....
People are easily influenced and make bad decisions all the time.
Banning an influence will not resolve anything. Blaming the influence will not resolve anything. People are mostly idiots and will find other avenues to abuse as they continue with their bad choices.
We are in a glut of blameless victimization where we worry more about the perpetrator than the victim. Society as a whole needs to hold individuals accountable for their individual actions, and while beer, book, TV or whatever can be cited as an influence, it is not the influence that caused the problem.
Every parent knows you don't blame the table when your child walks into it.

It's not the beer, or the religion/science (book) that makes a person do bad things, it's the person that using that tool. We are all responsible for our own actions and we need to be responsible for the consequences of those actions.
I don't believe in religion or the bible, but I don't think they should be banned because you have some morons out there..same with beer. There's always going to be someone that abuses what's given to them.

Great question.
No don't ban it. The book didn't decide to kill people, the ideas in the book didn't decide to kill people. People decide to kill, to hurt, to oppress and to abuse. They also decide to blame their actions on a book, or an idea, instead of taking responsibility for it themselves. Ban the people. Lock them up where they can't do any more damage. Keep the book available. Then if the idea they used as an excuse has any merit, more rational, reasonable people can find a way to apply it that doesn't involve murder and genocide.

It wouldn't be Budweiser's fault that Johnny was an idiot who chose to drink and drive. And of course you would want to prosecute Johnny to the fullest extent of the law. I don't know of many people who go on killing rampages due to science. I'm sorry dude I think it's gonna be the North Carolina Tarheels who are gonna win.

doe the gun and bullet kill or the man, seriously all a ban would do is make the people who drink or use it, whatever want it more, the person is in the wrong not the product used.

There is sick and senseless stuff that happens sometimes, and in our attempt to understand and cope with it we try to assign blame...sometimes in the wrong place. Being given the tool or idea to cause harm is not what will ultimately allow these things to happen - it's our lack of judgement and reason that does.

We should ban all Budweiser products as they are nasty.
We should ban the book, as it is a book of hatred.
I have Georgetown beating Wisconsin to win it all.

the beer company didn't force him to drink and drive that's like blaming guns for killing people, and not the person who pulled the trigger
