Because WE allow them to be the pigs they are! All it takes is for a the citizenry to realize that they work FOR us, and they are NOT hired to disrepect us or be rude to us... a few civilian complaints should do the trick... the only problem is that not enough people care enough to follow-through with a complain (and they KNOW this and rely on this). They love to pontificate and talk like they know everything... they are merely repeating what they've heard others say, and they are NOT attorneys nor lawyers! They memorize a few codes and they strut around like the bullies and love to push people around BECAUSE WE ALLOW them.

They hang out all day long b/sing on their cell phones, most of the time they sleep the night away in their cruisers, they break the laws they're paid to enforce (going past red lights for no reason other than the fact that no one reports them, they park on bus stops while out to lunch or on one of their multiple coffee & donut breaks or double park wherever they want... who's going to give THEM a ticket? That's abuse of authority but we allow them... instead of consistently reporting them and filing official complaints!

They see us as their willing victims simply because they know they can charge you with trumped up charges like, "Disturbing the peace" or "resisting arrest" and they can easily call for backup and have a gang of uniformed officers beat you up... but, one on one... they are a bunch of pompous pu$$ie$! I refuse to accept the b/s that "they deal with a lot of criminal elements" or "lowlifes" or as commonly said, "with a lot of s.hit" as an excuse for their most unprofessional behavior... that's NO excuse!

The problem is that we have allowed the politicians to lower the standards and we are now stuck with the crappy bully mentalities that ran to join the force, making the good police officers look bad... and the good police are to blame for enforcing the so-called "blue wall" of secrecy that keeps the rotten apples in uniform, risking the lives of the civilians and other good police... but, since the good police officers won't speak up, LET them pay for the rotten apples they shield and cover for, and tolerate working with!

Another problem that we must also take blame for is that we do NOT demand excellence, and we do not hold them accountable for their lack of professionalism and we also allow them to get away with their ruden attitude and hostile behavior... they treat the general populace like crap because WE allow them to do so...!

We hire them to protect us from criminals but WHO protects US from THEM? HOW many civilians follow-through with complaints? We let some nice-talking "good guy" talk us out of following through with our complaints ("he/she is a good police officer under a great deal of stress," "you're going to ruin his/her career," "you really don't want to do that...") THAT is the problem.

OH, by the way, I trained 7 kids, 5 retired, 2 more to retire in the next year or so from the NYPD, my son-in-law is a police officer and my brother-in-law is a retired Assistant Warden; my best friend's first son-in-law is also a police officer and his brother is a retired corrections supervisor. I also have a few friends that are still in uniform in the NYPD.

I don't care what anyone says, there are a lot of rude cops out there who enjoy messing with people's heads.
I'm a law-abiding citizen and have never been arrested. I've seen all types. My dad was a cop so I can say there definitely are some wonderful police officers out there. But having said that, I remember many get togethers where "cop stories" were told. There was bragging about some of the racist, rude things that were done.
I would have to agree with you except I wouldn't use the word "most". But I would say about 50% of them are rude!

Generally all the police officers I know will be more than happy to extend courtesy even after it hasn't been given, initially. But it does get tiresome dealing with people who like to run their mouth or take a swing and then piss and moan when the get what they asked for. Obey the law, be courteous and respectful to your fellow citizens and life will be magical. I will add that women can generally run their mouth with impunity because no one really takes that seriously, but a guy who does that knows he is a b*tch. I guess being a man is out of fashion these days. I don't have a problem with the fighters, its the mouthy punks that create animosity. In fairness, some of those punks grow up to be cops. Pepper spray and tasers have afforded punks and women with unchecked egos access to police work to its detriment.

For the most part many cops in their daily duties have to deal with may people and about 75% of them being rude and jerks, and keep in mind on a higher percentage, when cops are dealing with someone, its usually not a good thing.

I don't buy your general premise.
However they DO have to deal with a lot of criminals and other unsavory characters not to mention a lot of rude jerks. I could see how a policeman having a bad day might not always be all smiles.
Most I have dealt with were always professional & courteous. There have been exceptions.

A policeman once gave me a ticket on my birthday. Upon handing me the ticket, he grinned ear to ear & said "happy birthday!"
grrr... but I did commit the traffic offense I was ticketed for!

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.

You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

No it's not the Jelly...although bad diet can cause crankiness lol.....it's the people they deal with on a daily basis who have no respect for the badge because they are criminals....unfortunately the attitude often spills over to regular citizens too.....

Hey :)
I personally think that the main reason why some cops are so rude and impolite is that they abuse their power and position. Its kind of the mentallity of "I can say/do whatever I want and you can't stop me because I'M a member of the police force".
Its so bad, they should see themselves as helpers and protecters of society, not use their jobs as a reason to wind up and irratate innocent members of the public just because "they can".

Cops put up with a lot of crap. I think they should be trained to be more profession under the kind of difficult situations they encounter; but I'm more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I haven't been stopped in quite a while but my policy is to not say anything at all. I don't even answer that question: "Do you know why I stopped you?". They don't seem to care and just move on to doing their job. I don't like to pay speeding fines but It's not their fault that they don't know what a truly excellent driver I am.
