You should do a pre-workout exercise to warm up your muscles. Don't do anything strenuous- just get your heart pumping. Once you are warm, stretch really well. It will help your overall flexibility and help prevent pulling or tearing our muscles. You should also stretch after your workout, so your muscles don't cramp as easily.

You should warm up and stretch at the same time. There are exercises you can do that do both. If you warm up and stretch before you exercise you will get more out of the workout. You will also need to stretch after-wards. This will help your body recover and be ready for the next session. Flexibility is very important to overall fitness and a persons ability to perform at a high level.

You should always stretching before doing anything that includes running. But you should stretch before anything because if you don't stretch, you could easily pull a mussel, or worse, even break a bone. When you pull a mussel, it hurts so bad. Mostly in the leg.

I feel before any exercise routine you should stretch, because if not you can injure yourself or pull a muscle and pulling muscle does not feel good at all.

You could pull a muscle or tendon. It's worth taking a minute to stretch out.
