Forget, parboil, forget browning onions, just bung it all in together, Meat, Veg, (use a frozen stewpack from any supermarket) with whatever stewmix you want.. Co*emans Beef Stew Mix is Bril, you will probably need 2 if you fill the cooker to the top, just add water... turn it on, or put it on a timer before you go to work set it to low.... and bobs ya uncle one big stew. The only thing that will need chopping is the Onion.. if you use a pack of veg.
I have had one for years, they are bril and it always comes out perfect.. It does not have to be gourmet to taste good and be good for you.

This is my all-time easiest recipe for beef stew. You can buy the stew meat already cut in the meat department. Throw it in the bottom of the slow cooker, then add chopped potatoes, a couple handfuls baby carrots (produce, already pealed), two cans of stewed tomatoes (I use Italian style, has basil already) salt, pepper, wochestershire sauce (not too much), and water to cover. Takes me about 10 min. Then I take off to work for 8 - 9 hours. When I come home, I thicken the stew with Wondra flour. Just sprinkle till the stew's covered in a thin layer and stir, continue until the stew is the consistancy you desire. Then just serve and enjoy!

this is my favourite
2 1/2 lb stewing steak
3-4 tbs seasoned flour
3 tbs cooking oil
3 onions chopped
2 green peppers, de-seeded and chopped (optional)
half pint beef stock
14oz can chopped tomatoes
3 tbs tomato puree
pre-heat slow cooker on high
coat the meat with the seasoned flour heat the cooking oil in a large pan and brown the meat. Add onions and pepper and fry for a further 2-3 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, bring to the boil then transfer to the slow cooker. Cook 7-10 hours on low.
If you also want dumplings these need to be added 30 minutes before serving.
4oz self raising flour or plain flour with 1tsp of baking powder
2oz shredded or finely cut suet
salt and pepper
water to mix (I also like to add 1-2 tbs mixed herbs)
Mix all ingredients together to form a firm dough, divide into 8 balls and drop them into the juice around the beef.
Enjoy
PS I would suggest buying a good book, The Works do good but cheap ones. Also try doing a joint of beef or pork in slow cooker, they both turn out really tender.
Spaghetti bolognese and chilli are also good. Happy slow cooking.

Its so easy. You take your meat that you buy already cut up in to cubes at the store. It will say on the package something about stewing meat. You put in your favorite veggies cut up. I use, celery, baby carrots, potatoes, onion, green beans and a can of diced tomatos (with jalapenos, we like it spicy).
Then just use a stew seasoning you can buy in the aisle usually with either the spices or the gravy mixes at the store. Follow the directions on the package as far as how much water to add. Then, turn the slow cooker on. Low if you plan to cook for 8 hrs or more (usually turns out the best) or you can do high for 4-6 hours.

you could try checking the manufacturer's web site for recipes. also, there should be at least one stew recipe in the instruction manual that came with the cooker.
as a rule, rough chop the veggies you want in your stew, add those to the cooker first. then the meat. then the seasoning and no more than 3 cups liquid (the cooking process will create more liquid, and if you put in too much you will have soup.

I cube and pre-brown the beef (in a fry pan) followed by browning the onions, and some garlic.
I pre-cook the carrots, (peeled, cut up) and potatoes (ditto) and a light cooking of chopped celery.
The pre-cooking process helps the stew to meld in the crock pot better than if everything was raw.
I put in one large can of V-8, one package of dry Onion soup mix, assorted green herbs ( a pinch of cinnamon or cloves), black pepper etc
Turn cooker to medium high and cook, covered, for several hours.
Bon Appetit

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU6FR
The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true
