Islam is not a violent or hate inspiring religion. You should do some research before you criticize a religion. Don't believe the news because that is biased. Christianity is not a violent religion either.

you are pretty much correct! with the way the christian crusades were, and the current islamic violence, it is hard to imagine more violent religions in the name of ALLAH! OF GOD! religion has done more harm to the human race than it has good! that is fact! the hypocrisy of the muslims like sunnis and shiites is amazing! and also, the so-called fundamentalist christians who are nothing but business people collecting billions of dollars in the name of jesus is amazing! how deluded can we, as a people, be? and you are right! the AZTECS WERE CLOSE IN THEIR VIOLENCE!

I was going to point out the Aztecs. They seemed pretty violent, but it might have been an honor to be sacrificed. I know this was a common belief among the Maya. But then, the Maya didn't use prisons of war quite so much.

Did you see, how the Christians defend thier religion by placing the violence done in the name of christianity to some section of their religion but when it comes to Islam they generalise it to all Muslims. May God help these blind Christians. and as for u, Islam and the original Christianity never proposed Violence. You MAY by asking these kind of stupid questions.

Yes. The cult which splintered from Islam and were known as Assassins, giving us that word. They made murdering people into a religious sacrament.

Next in line might be the Vatican-authorized Crusade which exterminated the Albigensians. The "sins" of these "heretics" included such dreadful things as treating women as if they are almost equal to men, and not persecuting their resident Jews enough. After they were totally genocided, the Pope had the Inquisition set up as a tool to root out such heresies before they ever got started again.

A clarification: Christianity doesn't inspire violence and hate -- only pseudo-Christians feel this is acceptable (which it's not).

I will not argue with you about Islam. I can ignore the awful references to Christians, but the Koran's references to Jews turns my stomach.

And what about the Hindu caste system? I do realize it's not an official teaching of Hinduism, but Hindu writings uphold it. As a result, a multitude of generations of "untouchables" have been oppressed, enslaved and killed because they are viewed as subhuman. What kind of religion supports the notion that one "class" of human beings is worthless in comparison to all others?

Atheism for one. Look at Communist Russia/Stalin. Hitler based his whole Jews are scum theory on Darwinism, saying they were an inferior race.
I'll give you Islam, because it's founder was violent, but Jesus preached love of God and others, peace, self-sacrifice, and above all, forgiveness. It's not his fault (or the fault of peaceful, loving Christians) that some Kings with no love in their hearts used it to gain power and control people.
Philip Yancey writes: "In truth though, a virulent strain of ungrace shows up in all religions. I have heard eyewitness accounts of the recently revived Sun Dance ritual, in which young Lakota warriors fasten eagle claw to their nipples, and, straining against a rope attached to a sacred pole, fling themselves outward until the claws rip through their flesh. Then they enter a sweat lodge and pile high red-hot rocks until the temperature becomes unbearable, all in an attempt to atone for sins.
I have watched devout peasants crawl on bloody knees across cobblestone streets in Costa Rica and Hindu peasants offer sacrifices to the gods of smallpox and poisonous snakes in India."

Violence is a part of human nature and is present to some degree in every faith when people have stumbled.

On difference is that Christianity is the only faith whose doctrine is all about grace, so nobody can feel that they are better than others, because it is about the heart and how much you want God, not how much good you have done. It's supposed to be based on the golden rule, love God and love others before yourself. There are Christians who try to live it. I recommend reading the story of the prodigal son to see what the original faith was all about.

I was going to say the Aztecs.

Credit to the Christians, they don't sacrifice children, skin them, and then have the pastor wear the skins until it's time for another sacrifice. Still, there's an opportunity for a megachurch out there somewhere.

Again, Christianity doesn't embrace violence. The Crusades were a perversion of Christianity, as was the Jonestown mass suicide.

Neither does Islam in its purest form, enbrace violence. It's Islamic EXTREMEists that embrace violence.
