How can you be sure that your boyfriend is the one for you so that you can marry him for life?

I've been with my partner for more than a year now, I feel comfortable with him and he spoils me a lot. I feel quite settled, I know he loves me a lot and he can't be without me, but I'm still not very sure if he is the ONE. Maybe I'm too picky, when I talked to my friends about my dreamed husband, they all say that a perfect man like that doesn't exist or at least very difficult to find. I'm not sure also because I don't feel excited every time when I'm about to see him. People told me to try to imagine my life with him in 20 or 40 years, but I just can't. So how can I be sure?

One by one, everyone will tell you. It will start off with close friends then family, then strangers. Then you'll know

You can love someone and still not want to spend the rest of your life with them. If you are unsure about marriage then just keep the relationship as it is if you're happy enough with it.

You both have to keep thinking up ways to keep things fresh in the relationship otherwise you do become bored with each other. Remember what it was that attracted you to him in the first place - what did you do together when you first started out? A little effort on both parts goes a long way to reminding each other how much you love each other and it help keeps things alive. As for imagining life in 20 years time........... I can't even imagine what life is going to be like in one year never mind 20. Take each day as it comes and enjoy it for what it is. If you look at the future too much you can miss whats in front of you right now. xx

I knew because he was the first boy that when he kissed me I felt it in my toes. It was like an electric shock that ran all through me. I knew I would never kiss another boy again after that kiss. And it wanst our first kiss either. We had broken up after a few months of dating and spent some time apart. Our friends set it up that we would all meet up together and go to a movie while we were all home on Thanksgiving break from school, at the end of the night he kissed me good-bye and that was the kiss.

You are in love if you can imagine the worst possible circumstance, yet still want to be with that person. Imagine in 20 years that your beloved fiance might be obese, ugly, disabled and/or unemployed. Would you stick by him, or kick his pathetic butt out? If you are willing to commit for life, then that is love.

Conversely, if you are willing to stick with him when he starts regulating your world, screening your friends, and/or becomes abusive or insulting, then it's not love - it's just a painful obsession.

Good Luck!

If you've got to ask this question you are certainly not in love with him. Sometimes love is a gradual thing and can eventually just hit you but until that time comes or it just isn't happening DON'T commit yourself to any long term committment, you will only live to regret it. If things are just jogging along and you are both happy with it fine but if he proposes or wants more than you are ready for tell him truthful you are unsure.

well the reason i know im in love with my bloke is - every minute we spend apart i long for him, the nights we dont sleep in the same bed i struggle to fall asleep.

when i feel blue or need someone to talk to, david is the first person i think of.

when he touches me i feel like im on fire and i know that theres nothing in this world could compare to the way he kisses me.

maybe you dont feel all of these - but i know if you feel at least some of them then its definately love.

good luck and if you decide your not with mr right already, i hope you meet him really soon! x

For me, I know I am with my perfect partner because when I think about my life, he's always the biggest part of the picture, and when I look at him, I don't feel fluttery, I feel peaceful and warm and cherished.

There is no 'perfect man' or 'Mr Right'. All I know is, when I met my fiancé, I knew that if I didn't go out with him, I'd regret it. I am very happy, he makes me happy, we want the same things in life. If this is the same with you, then go for it!
