Would they really spend hours per day asking and answering questions about God?

It seems to me that they can't let go of religion. I mean honestly, if you really don't care about religion, why would you spend so much time talking about it, especially to people you'll never meet on an answer board?

I don't mean to offend or poke fun; I just wanted to point out what seems to me to be a paradox...

I, for instance, hate country music, but I'm not about to go onto the Country music board and ask all of the Country Music Fans if they have considered my viewpoint that Alternative Rock is better. Your thoughts?

Michael P: That's a very fair answer. The debate is definitely a good reason. I like to see myself as a Christian exploring the good that stems from every other system of belief (including that of non-belief, as far as God is concerned) because we all have something good to offer.

Meatbot: I never thought of it that way.

I still think, however, that like Michael said, it is only natural to question where we came from, and that maybe many atheists on this board are actually agnostic, leaving open the possibility of finding out about the supernatural.

Not sure why someone may spend a lot of time talking about something they don't believe in. I would assume there are better things to do. (and the atheists I know personally, act nothing like this forum...just my observation...and I don't go around with my magic converting wand either)

XD - you do have a point there!

I think there are a few reasons why I (an athiest) visit the R+S section so frequently. Firstly I like debating, and this is one subject that interests me. Most humans actually, after all isn't it only natural to question were we came from? Secondly I want to understand what makes you beleive, because I can't understand how you are able to go on faith alone. In that respect christians have shown me that you have to have faith to believe. In order to beleive in God, you have to be willing to beleive the unbeliavable. The third reason I go on here is because some of the questions asked here give me a good laugh!

However I must point out that your suggestion: that they are on here because they can't let go of religion and aren't truly "athiests" is absurd. And another example of a christian desperately trying to hold on to his beleif, while at the same time desperately trying to conceal the fact that he has doubts.

Everybody hs an opinion when it comes to the subject of religion. I find religion to be a fascinating topic. What i don't find to be so fascinating is when people are jamming their religious beliefs down other peoples throats 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

"maximum" is a especially good word to apply right here. no longer in straight forward terms does that sound particularly standard to an aim industry that probable would not very own a Bible yet seems it up on the internet, however the certainty that they are making use of rates shows that they might combat the different element. i'm no longer Christian, yet i somewhat know the religion. i'm no longer athiest the two, yet i would know the good people who stick to that philosophy. i will quote the two factors, and that purely shows that I somewhat have studied the two factors and can argue intelligently. right this is my subject with you, love me or hate me for it. on condition that while grew to become into Christianity (any faith, somewhat) a contest? on condition that while grew to become into it ideal to evaluate any kind of religious calling a "triumphing" difficulty? Like I pronounced, i don't have something against Christianity, regardless of the undeniable fact that that's a assertion like that that makes me offended against the lack of awareness of specific practitioners. that's no longer a race, there's no score board. have you ever study the entire Bible? information coach which you probable have not. additionally, the Bible is stuffed with historic allusions interior the form of information and whatnot. Is it incorrect to take those in a distinctive context, one that no longer in straight forward terms is harmless to the religion, yet ought to probable be enlightening? Is examining the Bible for historic references or for attempting to study it in a impartial or outdoors of any religious putting a brilliant ol' element to your tally? i do no longer think of so. I plan on examining and interpreting the Bible so i will totally understand the character of specific factors, yet i will maximum in all probability no longer return to the Christian faith because of the fact of my very own motives. that would not make me a undesirable individual, regardless of the undeniable fact that it would not help your reason the two. do no longer make this right into a pastime. God knows we've sufficient jerks pushing that concept during this international, in spite of which line of religion that's.

I'm just here for the Star Trek trivia.

But since you bring it up, who says we don't care about religion? Many of us have strong opinions about religion, and this seems the appropriate category for discussions on that topic.

i think god/desses are symbolic of various aspects of the true force of All, which cannot be personified lest it lose meaning. i consider myself an atheist (one who believes that there is no deity) because i do not believe that any gods or goddesses actually exist, but that they are constructs of humanity made to more easily understand that which is not understandable.

Oh you silly billy! If you were truly secure in your faith, why would you have to question atheists?

See how silly that sounds?

You really have to ask yourself, how can atheists avoid religion, at least in America? Therein lies the reason for the interest.
