The circuit overseer is an elder, very much interested in the congregation’s spirituality and how the congregation carries out its responsibility to get the good news preached in the assigned territory.

Do you remember Paul? He used to do the same thing.

Anyway if you are that interested you should go at a Kingdom Hall and ask some explanations.

What's this interest in us?
Your behavior proves that we truly are Jesus' disciples.

Scripture and verse? You mean Bible book, Chapter and Verse. Only illiterates say it the other way. Anyways, let me use bible verses so you don't say I don't use them.

1 Corinthians 5:13 - "'Remove the wicked [man] from among yourselves'"

Maybe your mad because you were removed? Maybe? It might be a possibility that your unhappy when you were read all the bible texts you were going against as while they remove you? Maybe?

JC, where in the Bible does it say it's your job to criticize peoples' chosen path to God?

Oh, right, that isn't in the Bible, JC.

Jehovah's Witnesses use the term "circuit overseer" to refer to an elder who is responsible for overseeing matters in about twenty congregations. While the term "circuit overseer" is not directly in the Scriptures, the term would have been easily understood by any first-century Christian.

The bible (and Jesus himself) plainly uses the term "circuit" to refer to a contiguous series of cities or congregations. Jehovah's Witnesses continue to use this term to refer to a specific group of contiguous congregations.

(Matthew 10:5-7,23) Jesus sent forth, giving them these orders: “...go continually to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, preach...When they persecute you in one city, flee to another; for truly I say to you, you will by no means complete the circuit of the cities of Israel until the Son of man arrives.

(Mark 6:4-6) Jesus went on... And he went round about to the villages in a circuit, teaching.

(Romans 15:19) From Jerusalem and in a circuit as far as Illyricum I [the apostle Paul] have thoroughly preached the good news about the Christ.

The bible plainly uses the term "overseer" as a synonym for "elder". Jehovah's Witnesses continue to use the term, typically with an adjective such as "congregation elder", "service overseer", "traveling overseer".

(Acts 20:28) Pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the holy spirit has appointed you overseers, to shepherd the congregation of God

(Philippians 1:1) to all the holy ones in union with Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, along with overseers and ministerial servants

(1 Timothy 3:1,2,8,10) If any man is reaching out for an office of overseer, he is desirous of a fine work. The overseer should therefore be irreprehensible...Ministerial servants should likewise be serious...Also, let these be tested as to fitness first, then let them serve as ministers

(Titus 1:7) For an overseer must be free from accusation as God's steward

(1 Peter 2:25) For you were like sheep, going astray; but now you have returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls

Most bibles merely anglicize the original Greek term for overseer ("e·pi·sko·pos") into "bishop", but the common usage of the original Greek word was not particularly religious and could be used for any position of secular oversight. In a similar way, Jehovah's Witnesses do not anglicize the Greek term "diakanos" into the religious title "deacon", but use the meaning of the original Greek word: "ministerial servant".

"The overall direction comes from the Governing Body at the world headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. The Governing Body sends representatives each year to various regions worldwide to confer with the branch representatives in those regions."

Wow, the Governing Body sure sounds like it's set up like the Pope and the deacons and the bishops in the Catholic Church.

You must obey the rules and laws of the Pope/ Governing Body who has the the right to change those rules and laws at any time.

The Bible says to obey the laws of Jesus, and gives no one authority to make up rules or change them.

The Bible also says to spread the Word, deeming these questions very appropriate.

No different than knocking on doors.
