Tir Na Nog near Madison Square Garden on 33rd Street - excellent food and great music

Paddy Reilly's Music Bar on Second Avenue and 29th Street - I love the music (this neighborhood has dozens of Irish pubs)

Baggot Inn - 3rd Street near Sullivan - good music - sometimes they have poetry readings

I have a friend who loves beer (I drink "girly" drinks - no beer for me); she likes Burp Castle - says they have a great selection - This place is very loud and looks like a medieval castle. I was intrigued when I a saw a monk smoking grass outside - it turns out he isn't a monk - the habit is the staff costume. It's an interesting place - also on the same block is McSorley's - East 7th Street and Third Avenue.

McSorley's in the East Village at 15 East 7th Street. That pub has been there for over 150 years. It has originally signed photographs of Babe Ruth and other star NY athletes. I was in there last years ago. What I remembered most was the carved up tables with people's initials in the wood.

Lenihan's. On the corner of Atlantic Ave and Lefferts in Richmond Hill. Wings night every Tues. Most of the bartenders are the real deal too with roots in Ireland.

I agree with the person who said Paddy Reilly's. Have fond memories of seeing the band Black 47 there (and met Matt Dillon there too) Cheers!
