I've seen the Dead, not Grateful Dead, twice. I saw Bob Weir's band and Phil Lesh and Friends.

I loved LoveLight, Touch Of Grey, The Music Never Stopped, U.S. Blues, and even got to see Blue Sky by Phil Lesh and Warren Haynes. But, ShakeDown Street made my concerts all the more enjoyable. Yes, I think ShakeDown Street was their best.

I even got to see an Encore "SoulShine" by Warren and Phil. Very heartfelt song with awesome licks.

This is an impossible question!!! It all depends on my mood, or who I'm with, or a fast song or slow song. Here are some of my fav's (in no particular order):

Shakedown St.
China Doll
Help-slip-Franklin's
Music never stopped
Jack Straw
Bertha
Tenn. Jed
Liberty
Days Between
So Many Roads
Throwning Stones
wait I can't to this....I LOVE em ALL(except a few Brent songs!!!)

I have to say this is an impossible question to answer for a few reasons.....

#1 Deadheads do or did so much drugs (mainly my favorite LSD!!!) that they cant remember which song was the best only which trip was the best.

#2 the band themselves did so much drugs that the music is never the same, they were basicly just a world class jAM SESSION bringing new beats to the same lyrics

and finally #3 Grateful dead were the ****...you dont like one song for a favorite, you like the band for a whole, what they stood for, who they were, and what they did....

PEACE OUT this RIPS FOR YOU!

By far the best Dead song
Is: Scarlet Begonia into Fire On The Mountain
I've seen it live at least 15 times, it gives me chills every time.
Keep Rockin
P.S. It's not the Dead without Jerry

Dark Star---- Eyes of the World---- Birdsong.
All of those were amazing when performed live.
Can't compare the newer Dead to the original though...it just ain't the same without the lead guitar of Jerry Garcia.

I have to say hands down Touch of Grey, I know it is probably their most known song, but it was always my favorite. If you're having a bad day, play that song turn in up and sing along, it always puts me in a better mood.
