Well, I met my wife online. However I agree there is a taboo. However, online IS kind of like the ´dating world´. You have to be careful to make sure who the person really is. It has the same politics more or less, and just like the real world, there are good people and then there are robots (the dating material that turns out to be nothing more than prescripted messages). And of course you have to expect the psychos. It´s always good to get their picture first, so you know what you are working with. If you meet, make it a public place, so you don´t end up in Cathy Bates´ basement having to write her a novel...lol, be careful though, they write these stories for a reason...cause it´s possible. Good luck, use common sense, and if it is the right person, then don´t GIVE a darn what family thinks. Love and Respect.

I've never had to lie about it to my family. Mine know that I am doing the online dating thing because I don't go to bars. I have met some good people doing this and there was one they actually met (that lasted long enough to get to that point). I guess if you really can't tell them, you come up with something together with your new b/f and keep the story straight. (You ran into eachother at the grocery store or something? ) Just remember most of the time, lies come out and sometimes it's just easier to tell the truth. If he's a really great guy and your parents meet him and approve of him and they see he treats you the way you deserve to be treated, does it really matter how you met?

I met my current wife on line. As she lived a long distance from me we never initially had intentions of developing a relationship and just talked for a considerable time. Over time the conversations became more detailed and personal with both of us being very open with the other. (much more so than any face to face meeting) By the time we actually met we knew more about the other than we would ever have learned in a face to face even over a considerably longer time period. Of course as with anything else this depends upon honestly on the part of both. Tell those who need to know the truth if you prefer to be vague with the others that's your choice, just never lie. I began talking with no intent of developing a relationship, it just happened over time.

It is taboo to some....but if you guys love each other..why should there be a problem? I met my now fiance 7 years ago through the net, and I have no problem telling people that...we're in love, and that's all that matters. You just have to be careful who and whre you meet!

I don't know what to tell you. I would say to be careful of what you do.... He may be nice now but you never know. It's not safe to meet people online these days. I wouldn't suggest that at all. But Good Luck with your relationship anyway.

I think that as long as you have enough information on the persona nd that you guys get along, then it ok. You'll took time to know one anothe I see and you say h's cool . this is important. Just tell thm the truth and how he makes you happy and keeps you interested.
As long as he makes you happy that is what matters
