It seems like more personal spats are arising in this forum lately...

But I also notice more comraderie among many players... I like the idea of having fun while in this forum and discussing matters that can get a little heavy...

How shall we focus on the fun and exchange of info, and let go of the personal spats? Or is this unrealistic?

Lately I have been making a conscious attempt to avoid the ad hominem, to steer away from questions that will elicit too snarky of a response from me, mostly just to try and respect the others without getting personal about our differences. It can be difficult to avoid the temptation to lash out sometimes. I think if we all just put forth an effort to show a little more compassion we will all get along better. Some trolls should be ignored, others should be embraced because they can be alot of fun. Just try to excercise good judgement.

People in general- not just on this forum- need to lighten up a bit. I love it when someone injects a little humor into a heavy subject... but you're right, when it gets personal, it defeats the purpose of the forum.

Having said this, however, I have little sympathy for those that cannot bear to have their beliefs challenged, or to have their motivation and priorities questioned when they appear to conflict with their professed beliefs. Such dialogue should serve to strengthen their beliefs, and realign their personal priorities when it's warranted; if it doesn't, then either they've been brainwashed, or simply don't care to practice what they preach.

Sadly, this is an unrealistic question. Man always finds new ways to tear a fellow human being down. You would think it would be, to love other's respect them as you like to be respected and use tolerance. As years go by people seem for some unknown reason meaner with every passing day. I don't know if it's due to TV, Video games, books, magazines offering out more and more violence, or as we get smarter and smarter we have decided there is no God and therefore no final punishment. Or maybe parents aren't teaching their children manners and some of the things I said above. I like your photo of Einstein, he once said that even he couldn't begin to understand the solar system and he also believed in God, he called Him "The Ancient One." Society seems to have decided to look out for number one than be your brother's keeper. It's sad really, don't you think?

It's probably unrealistic in this category. Remember more war have been started over religion than anything else. I enjoy a lively debate, but I try to keep it civilized. Every one is entitled to their own opinion. And if I ask a question I want to hear their opinion. I don't have to like it, but I made the invitation. I think I'm obligated to hear them out. If all the users would just try and be little more polite I think this would more fun for all.

I try to avoid getting into spats now, but one of my favorite people on 360 started as a little fight I was having with someone...

It's unrealistic. The people at this forum are no better or worse than their brothers and sisters worldwide, none of whom can get along for 20 minutes.

The spats are gonna keep popping up no matter what, although if everybody would just follow the Lamb we'd all be friends.

Just like Christians and Muslims, Communists and Captialists. We have to "team up" with our own and wage war. Even in simple forums like this. It's a carry-over from when we were monkeys... (from a believer that God and Science are one in the same).

Good morning, Smarty Pants! (Spats are going to break out in religion and politics...it's the nature of things)

It would be wonderful if we could, but I don't know if it's possible around here. Too many people come here for the express purpose to stir up contention. Others are here just to ask dumb questions like WSIDR among others. But I like the idea, that's why I started coming here.
