See the DIY Screen Forum (1st link below) at AVS Forum ... all sorts of ideas, advice. Also the link to an article at projector Central.

I can say from personal experience (I did a DIY screen with paint on a blank wall in my home theatre) that DIY screens can give excellent results for very little (ca $50) money.

Cheers.

Bed sheets are not very good they absorb more light than reflect. Use the wall, you can frame out an area you want to use for the screen and paint it with a bright white. Better yet, you can get projection screen paint, it has quartz sand in it and will give you excellent results. Check your paint supply, if they do not have it they can probably order it for you.

We went to LOWES and got a piece of hard white plastic...It's thicker than construction paper...It's generally used as wall building material...It's textured on one side and really smooth on the other...You'll find it in the SHEET ROCK section...It was $10 for an 8 by 4 foot sheet...You want to use a 1-inch wide, felt ribbon (black) for the border...It works great!

Use blackout cloth. Make sure you order your material rolled. When I unrolled my screen it was flawless no wrinkles no problems. I have been using this for a week it is amazing. I was using just a wall but now the colors are perfect. I used 1x4 wood. I am horrible at math but I used 59x110 measurements for my frame and it fits perfect. Only problem I have is when things are fast moving you can see the material slightly other than that this is absolutely perfect.

If you just use the wall it is rather good, but you are best to buy a good one as they should last, Have you tried Ebay???
