Yes, the ASVAB is timed and you can't use a calculator. The test isn't too bad but that depends on your test taking skills and general knowledge of various subjects. I recommend getting one of these prep books
It can make a big difference in how well you do since you'll know exactly what to expect on the test. The higher your score, the more opportunities you'll have and the better jobs you can qualify for so don't take the test lightly just because some people say it's easy. There's a big difference between doing okay and doing extremely well.

The prep/study book will get you used to the timing of the test so you know how long to spend on each question and get used to the time pressure you'll be under. They give you everything you need to know to do well. Good luck!

50 is dead average so you are 24 points above average and the max is 99. This is a fine score. Have your recruiter print out ALL jobs that you qualify for. Depending on the other line scores, you probably have 99% of options available to you. The other score you want to pay attention to is your GT score. The form (680-E) that has your asvab scores on it will also have your GT. If your GT is above 110, you qualify for everything to include Special Forces, Flight School, and unfortunately Recruiting.

Keep in mind that if you retest, you most recent test is the one that counts; so you stand to lose ground if you score lower the second time.

Edit: regarding another poster. The Army and USMC require a 31 for entrance. The AF and Navy require a 36. That said, you probably will be a cook or something menial at those levels.

A 74 will make you eligible for ANY job in the Army. Most people score the minimum of 30 something. Don't worry about it. The only thing is you may be smarter than 98% of the people you are going to work with who never learned how to add and subtract 2 + 2 and 2 - 2. Good job for learning the basics when they taught it to you.

Great scores. Make sure you research what YOU want to do very carefully. DO NOT LET A RECRUITER TELL YOU, "YOUR JOB IS NOT AVAILABLE, WHY DON'T YOU DO THIS OTHER JOB." You are the one in control, don't settle for anything less than your ideal job!

I would focus on skills that transition easily to civillian employment. For example, the FAA will be hiring a lot of Air Traffic Controllers in the future due to retirements. If you get Air Traffic Control training in the military, you will have a very good shot at getting on with the FAA in civillian life.

50 is average. Like 31 is the lowest to get anything decent. 74 will get you a lot of jobs, most jobs, any combat arms job, and some intel jobs.

That's actually QUITE good. i wouldn't test again, if you should happen to have a bad day and get a lower score, you are then stuck with the lower score.

What exactly you will be eligible to train in will depend on your Line scores

That's a GREAT score!

Check to see what your GT score is. I'm sure it's above 110.

You should really consider college and being an officer, too.
