You're on the right track. 140 years ago, the US civil war was fought. Free Whites & Free Blacks, United together, fought to defend and Preserve the Union. What was the Union? The Union was and is the belief in Freedom.
The other side, on the surface, looked very similiar. Whites & some Blacks, fighting for the Confederacy. What was the Confederacy? The Confederacy was and is a belief in Slavery.
The two major political parties/ideologies back then are the same two here today. The different beliefs each kept/fought for then are the same beliefs, held today.
The party that owned plantations, bought and sold black slaves, is once again fighting, this time to preserve illegal immigration. The excuse they used to justify slavery/slave labor... "To keep the price of cotton low."
The excuse they use to justify having illegal alien labor... "To keep the price of fruit low."
The Plantation is now the Farm, the Slave is now the illegal immigrant/alien/migrant worker.
Making $100,000 in 1807 is equal to making $1,000,000 in 2007.
Making $7 per hour today was equal to making??? Roughly $0.00 hr.
The most important aspects of these two, seemingly identical situations are two subtle differences... 1st. How they arrived here. Slaves from Africa were chained up and forced here. 60yrs before the Civil War, the US outlawed any further importing of slaves, yet the slave population in the South continued to grow. Slaves were reproducing and their kids were born into slavery.
Illegals aren't forced here, rather they are forcing their way in. Reproducing a child is priority #1 upon entering, "drop Anchors".
Difference #2, How many States are involved? Confederate Slave states 11 and 2 border states had free & slave counties, stayed with the Union. Today, illegal immigrants live & work in every Union State.
There's still time to correct this issue and preserve FREEDOM.

Dude, go back to school. The Civil War was not over ending slavery. It was about keeping the southern states in the union. Slavery was a secondary factor.
Human slavery still exists on the African continent today. The UN and the news media just ignores it.

The Civil War had as much to do with slavery as the current war in Iraq has to do with WMDs....and it was 142-146 years ago, not 200.
The War of 1812 (the closest American War to your war "200 years ago") saw America trying to invade Canada...which, ironically, is a better comparison than the slavery/Civil War analogy you tried to make. If you want to see true slave labor in the US, take a look at this:

are govt has lost its mind when it comes to illegals. we not only had the civil war to free the blacks, we went to war because the south was wanting so separate from the north. Lincoln was not going to have it. the south needs the north as much s the north needs the south. and yes slavery needs to be stopped. what do you do when the Mexican govt is encouraging it? they are a bunch of sock dogs in office.

No it isn't the same at all. The slaves were beaten, raped and killed at the will of the owner. They were treated and thought of as animals not human beings.
The illegal aliens are paid wages for their work. They can come and go as they please just staying away from ICE is their concern. They can open bank accounts, get free health care, send their children to school, buy cars and purchase homes. They are not owned by anyone. No they are not slaves as they come into this nation illegally on their own. They work and live where they want and they can quit a job,go to another city or state without dogs and people with guns searching them out to drag them back to their owners to be beaten and worked to death.
NO its not the same at all..

I think it's sad because a lot of them don't know any better. They take the jobs that will pay them under the table because the lot of them are not American citizens, so they are forced to take jobs that some say American's "won't do", when the fact of the matter is that we would do it, but the employers want to pay for cheaper labor and the illegal immigrant is the way to go for that. I don't agree with it, but I wouldn't call it slavery because they can leave at any time without punishment and are not technically "owned" by their employers.

The American Civil War was 140 years ago and was not fought to end slavery although that was one result. If illegal immigrants feel like slaves they need to get out of our country. They are breaking the law to be here and we can do just fine without them. We didn't ask them to be here, we didn't force them to be here and we don't want them here. They should leave as soon as possible.

The difference here is two-hundred years ago the slaves didn't have a choice. If they didn't do the work, they would get whipped, beaten, even killed. The slaves didn't have a choice. They were forced.
The illegal are coming over to do it. They do have a choice.

I don't see immagrants working here is slavery they chose to come over here to work, what they get paid and all is there fault if they do cheap labor. People are going to hire someone who will work for less. Most immagrants do cuz there illegal so they take what they are offered.
