I am looking for a place that is pretty inexpensive in NYC. Pretty much Midtown or Greenwich Village area? Bed and Breakfasts ok.Can you help? Thanks!!

You're much more likely to find truly affordable accommodations in Queens or New Jersey. However, most of the budget and midrange hotel chains (Comfort Inn, Red Roof Inn, Super 8, Hampton Inn, etc.) have locations in the Times Square area or lower Midtown for $100 - $150/night.

Try a sidewalk steam grate...everything else in NYC you'll pay pay pay.
