Never try to PLAN to say anything funny, you'll come across as a bit lame.
You should seem really interested in your date and dont spend all night talking about yourself, just ask lots of questions.
If you re funny naturally, then that's great but if you re not dont try to be cause it wont get you a second date.

I guess it would all depend on the person you're going out with. Do you know he or she as a casual acquaintance, co-worker, or is this a blind date?

All first dates are a little awkward, so I say just be yourself and keep the conversation light - no describing past lovers, or how they hurt you! Smile a lot, and don't view this person as a potential mate -- it's just a date, and they are just a friend at this point!

I wish you well!

I just went out on my first date after a year on zero dating this past weekend and the best advise that I can give you is just be yourself. Don't try to impress anyone. And keep it real. Don't expect a lot and you won't be dissappointed. Also don't read into things or go assuming things either.

Well I would just get to know the person. Ask questions that will make the other person feel like you are really interested in them. I went on my first date in a long time over the weekend and my date asked what quality do I value most in a relationship? I thought that was a very thought provoking question. It made me feel like he was really interested in what I had to say

Well, don't try being funny. Just be yourself, if you're a goofy person, than be funny. But it's better not to over do it on the first date until your date gets to know you. Just plan on getting to know each other. Ask about work and hobbies. Talk about common interests. You'll be just fine, just relax, be yourself and have fun!

Concetrate on details. Make sure you treat her like a lady. Hold open doors and pull out chairs. Make sure you help her with her coat. Make conversation light with the intention of getting to know more about her. Make her know you are interested in getting to know her better. Expect nothing physical at this time and use your body language to make that very clear. This is a fun time so make it so. Good luck to you.

Just be yourself!

You don't want to be acting and reciting jokes that you have read on Yahoo! You need to be genuine.

You want him to like you for you or else when you run out of 'jokes' and rehearsed lines they will realise that you weren't being your true self when you met.

Good luck! Just have fun!! Because a person who just relaxes and enjoys themself will be very appealing!

I know this sounds cliche but you should just be yourself. You want people to like you for you not someone you're trying to fake being. Do and say whatever comes natural and easy to you to make your date enjoyable.

Eye contact. Smile. Watch you body language. Try to ask simple "get to know you" questions like where they grew up, if they have family, where they work, if they like it. Then see where the conversation leads.
