Why is there so much hypocrisy in bars? Hypocrisy is everywhere, no matter where you look. If you find someone who is not a hypocrite, chances are that they worked very hard to become that way. Unless they have a personality type that is less prone to hypocrisy. Not that this excuses hypocrisy in religion by any means, but religions aren't necessarily going to make someone less hypocritical.

Honestly, I think it's because there are so many different opinions in a religion and most people go by what they believe. It happens to create a big hypocrisy in religion whenever everyone wants to go by their own rules and beliefs.

It stems far beyond religion I'm afraid. There isn't anything that goes on at any point in time that doesn't in some way involve hypocrisies.

My friend there is hypocrisy in every aspect of life today. Government, Religion, Entertainment, News, Sports, ...........Everywhere.
The motto of the world today seems to be do as I say, not as I do.

When hasn't there been hypocrisy in organized religion? It has existed since the Jewish leaders in Jesus time until now.

This skeptical view of religion is understandable. Many religious organizations are mired in political intrigue and moral hypocrisy and are drenched in innocent blood from countless religious wars. However, while rejecting the religious organizations that are sullied by hypocrisy and deception, some have made the mistake of also rejecting the Bible, which they think condones such practices.
In reality, the Bible condemns hypocrisy and lawlessness. Jesus said to the religious leaders of his day: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you resemble whitewashed graves, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful but inside are full of dead men's bones and of every sort of uncleanness. In that way you also, outwardly indeed, appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness."—Matthew 23:27, 28.
Moreover, the Bible encourages Christians to be neutral in all political affairs. Rather than urging believers to kill one another, it directs that they should be willing to die for one another. (John 15:12, 13; 18:36; 1 John 3:10-12)

Go to the library and check out the book "When Religion Becomes Evil" by Charles Kimball.
In a nutshell, it's not these Religions in essence that are at fault, but the perversion of them, and the use of them for personal gain.
