You could take one of the chair arm covers to the store and find a color that compliments or matches, tho i would definitely go lighter with a shade of green than the furniture. how about adding a splash of color to perhaps one wall... and adding throw pillows on the sofa with the accent... you could add either a plum or burgundy to a wall, and add a floral print or a stripe with that color accented in it... you can get some fabric for curtains as well, that has the accent color.... just a thought

depends on the size of the room really. Also what color stain is the wood trim? Light Oak? Maple?

If its a large room you can go with darker colors but I would recommend is something that is neutral yet contrast the trim and carpet and compliments the sofa (unless you plan on changing furniture in the near future).

A soft yellow like pineapple fizz from behr should work or a soft to medium shade of green. Stay away from light or bright shades of blues.

Anothing thing to consider though is the amount of light that the room gets when picking a shade of colors.

Maybe a light or medium coral, or perhaps a buttery yellow...Then find some accent pillows for your sofa to pull all the colors together.
