Ok so she had her 3rd stroke...she is 81 years old and she lost her right side and cant talk. She cant eat and has to have a feeding tube put directly into her stomach... Her doctor told us she is termanally ill. Her whole left side of the brain is completely gone...She has blood clots covering it and they are starting to move into the right side of her brain. What are her chances of recovering?

Sorry to hear this, but it doesnt sound good to me. Strokes can be overcome but it depends on the severity. Your mother-in-law has already suffered severe permanent damage such as paralisis...this cannot heal its permanent. Strokes cause brain damage and this type of injury is usually permanent because brain cells are a very specialized type of cell, and the more specialized cells are the less likely they are to recover from injury. If the damage caused by a stroke was mild sometimes a person can recover with help of therapists. But your mother-in-law's condition seems to be degenerating from what you say she many other clots, this means she can have another stroke at any time and other than taking anticoagulants there isnt much you can do to prevent another stroke. Considering her age and the severity of her condition I dont think you can expect her to recover from this. Im very sorry about this situation, my grandmother has had many strokes.....none as severe as what you're describing, but they have definetly changed her, she not the same person anymore, she's not completely independant, she has compulsive behaviour, she speaks slowly and has to think to find her words.......I feel what your going through

do no longer hate her, that's that this manner of self-unfavourable emotion. She's a tragic, lonely previous lady and that i might wager that no lady may be good sufficient for her son (in her recommendations besides). shop being the kind, loving lady which you're and convince your husband to do maximum of her care. Avoidance is your superb wager. yet understand that her recommendations has been broken by making use of the strokes and he or she is not in her stunning recommendations from now on.

I'm sorry, but things don't look too well for her right now. Once you lose blood supply to your brain, it can't ever be put back and function like it used to.
