In his last pit stop his pit crew let one of his tires roll outside the pit stall...but before it rolled out the NASCAR official stopped it. So, in your opinion, did Johnson deserve to win?

Alright tregosteevo...i'm not saying anything about Chevy vs. Dodge or anything like that. I just don't understand why they didn't make him drive back down pit road as a penalty. So don't try to pull that s.h.i.t

I wish that there was a clear ruling but there was not.Officals are allowed to touch equipment in the name of saftey. The offical demed the tire was a safty hazzard as the "tire carrier"tripped as he turned and the official thought it was not a melicias act .
That's all I have to say about that.

I see that you accused Jimmie of being a cheater in the last question and am quite sure you won't be picking my answer as the best. How did Jimmie cheat? He just drives the car. He served the earlier pass through penalty for the other tire getting away, which also wasn't his fault. The official stopped a slow rolling tire that was headed right for him. He didn't go running after it or make a diving save before it got on pit road. This was a safety call that they apparently make routinely. All the drivers on Inside Nextel Cup (Biffle, Schrader and Waltrip) said that they have ALL had an official do the same thing at some time or another. What would you prefer, they let the tire go and have someone knock it into an innocent pit crew member? It was a non issue except for the fact that everyone is always looking for a reason to rag on Johnson. I'm sorry that your Dodges aren't as competitive as the Chevys but don't take it out on the drivers that are just trying to do their jobs (win).
Alright ram_this911, truce, but Jimmie did NOT cheat at Vegas. I will give you that the NASCAR officials are extremely inconsistent and have proven that starting with Daytona this year (penalties enforced, lack of the caution at the end, etc.)

yeah he deserved to win he ran a great race i just want to know why the official helped his crew out a penalty should have been enforced for equipment outside the pit box if from this point on if it happens the rest of the drivers should get the same benefit johnson got and not be penalized and as for the chevy guy a dodge driver won the most races last season and the reason the chevys look so much more competitive is because they have most of the good drivers and there is twice as many chevys in the field as any of the other makes the brand is not that big a deal anyway its all about the crew and the driver johnson would be just as good in a ford or dodge and probally even a toyota

Yes, he deserved to win. He clearly had the fastest car for the most part (too bad for Burton) and I can promise you that every single team in NASCAR has had an official grab a tire to stop it for safety reasons. If the tire was in control and/or behind the wall before the driver left the pit box they did not get penalized. If it had been Dale Earnhardt Jr. that was in this position ( I also like Dale Jr.) then there would not be such a huge commotion would there? Now, where were we? Oh yeah going on to Atlanta!

From everything that we know, it was justified. The NASCAR official in the pit reserves the right to catch the tire, if he can and if he wants to. It is his call. He chose to, so that is what we live with!
Look for Jr to make a comeback at Hotlanta, it is one of his favorite tracks!

Yes, Johnson is a great driver. I am upset that Kasey Kahne did not win like I wanted. But as long as Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon did not win that is all that matters.

Pretty much the same question, but of course he deserved to win, he was the first driver over the finish line. It is the responsibility of the Official to prevent and accident if possible. They have done the same thing for many teams. He cheated? lmao, that is a good one. Please explain.

Of course he deserved that win. You're looking for that "magical" response so you that can get a better grip on your unhappiness with his win. This is one of NASCAR's better calls. Be glad you witnessed it.
