When is it ever wise to fight a limited war- not absolute conquest of an enemy, but limiting the extent of their influence.

i don't know. But i don't think it will ever work. If you are in a war, it's either to win or to lose. Win as in totally conquering them all not by just limiting their influence. it will never work that way.

its not, putting limitations on soldiers in that situation is nothing but setting them up for military prison!!

Never,if you are going to fight ,fight.
Beat them senseless as rapidly as possible and be done with it.
If you must occupy,do it on you terms.
