Basically they're mutts, but they are lab/poodle mixes.
I think people make a big deal out of them because they are hypo-allergenic.

Yes, a Lab/Poodle mixed breed dog. And they are no more or less special than any other dogs. If you are going to adopt an addition to your family, why not rescue a stray from the pound or your local ASPCA?

Yes, they are so-called designer dogs that are lab-poodle crosses. They marketed as hypoallergenic and no shed, but that is not true. There is a lot of variation in the pups because they are cross breeds, so some still shed. And hair doesn't cause allergies, skin dander does, so they are not hypoallergenic either.

Yes, that would be what they are. I agree with the other people about the allergy thing, but I would get one just to say the name! I think it's funny. I think that mixing breeds will help with certain problems from the full breeds of one.
Another example of one is a puggle pug/beagle, where they do not have all the problems pugs do.

It is a Labrador Retriever/Poodle (any size) mix. Though touted as "hypo-allergenic" and "shed-free" that is NOT true. They still produce dander and often inherit the "Lab" parent's coat (and they shed like crazy!), so though they may be LESS of a problem, it is not problem-free.

Breeders are mixing all sorts of breeds with poodles now because they have a type of coat that doesn't shed and people who are alergic to dogs don't have a problem with.

they are a cross breed of lab/poodle puppies are mutts. people breed them so they can call them :hypo-allergenic. which there is actually no such thing . they may not shed but they are not and no dog is hypo-allergenic. non-shedding does not mean they dont have dander etc.
