Recently I got good help on recording DVD's that can also play on older players. Trial and error!!. My question is: Store purchased DVD's play on older player. What do they do to achieve this ? Can we also do this?

The problem is most older player just can't read home burned DVD's. Because physically the structure of what commercial pressed DVD are already different then the home burned one.

And that old player just not designed to read the burned DVD's. But the newer player are already designed with this new breed awareness.

And then, you better of writing in DVD-R (instead of DVD+R) to ensure the maximum compatibility with current player.
