Floyd is not a household name yet because he has done the Roy Jones career move of avoiding anyone that could be vaguely competitive. In my opinion, though his wins are severe, he has no right being ranked number one in the pound for pound. Floyd Mayweather has gone out of his way to outprice himself from anyone that could give him some serious competition.

Floyd OPENLY avoided Antonio Margarito. Outpriced himself away from Cotto, and wont even consider discussing Shane Mosely. Thats not including Ricky Hatton who made every financial concession to fight Floyd.

Also, I think he knows this.

Up to about two weeks ago, I had Floyd winning hands down. Then I saw the press conferences. I realized something. Floyd is openly afraid of DeLaHoya. He is jaw jacking...trying to pump himself up. I mean you really dont have to play bad guy to sell tickets with DLH, the tickets sell themselves.

Floyd realized that DLH has won, and lost, to better competition than Floyd has ever faced. The names on DLH's resume are unreal. Trinidad, Sweat Pea, Shane Mosely, Bernard Hopkins. Floyd has....Demarcus Corely, Zab Judah, washed up Arturo Gatti (who was always a limited club fighter) and Diego Corrales.

I think it may have seemed like a good idea at the time...but I think Floyd is getting afraid, and that Oscar ISNT trying to get into his head is bothering him.

That may be all the edge DLH needs. This fight will not be about skill or speed...its truly going to come down to will. And no one doubts DLH's...but no one has seen Floyd under pressure yet.

Mayweather is a 2 to 1 favorite over de la Hoya if you go to any sports book. That means Mayweather should have about a 67% chance of winning the bout statistically speaking. If you disagree, then you can get rich betting on it in Vegas.

I personally also agree that Mayweather is going to win, although I like de la Hoya much better as a boxer and a professional. Mayweather is going to run around and rely on his defensive genius while the Golden will do his best to cut off the ring but will only be able to win about 4 rounds.

Mayweather UD12 (116-112, 116-112, 115-113)

Great question. This is how I see it panning out...

This fight comes with a lot of risk for Floyd, as he could potentially be knocked out. Although he probably won't admit it, Floyd has to be wary of Oscar's punching power, and will be training to counteract and nullify that.

I, however, don't think Floyd will be knocked out.

Floyd has the superior speed, and I think he will use it to run from Oscar. Floyd has said in press conferences that he will not run from Oscar, but then again, he said he would knock out Baldomir in 5 rounds.

Also, De La Hoya has proved everything he has to in boxing. Mayweather has yet to, on account that he hasn't been severely tested yet. Up to this point, he's just been too good for everyone.

Not many people expect Floyd to win, but I think Floyd will be wary/ scared of De La Hoya's power, and will show. Floyd will box from a distance, and pot shot and counter punch his way to a split decision win over De La Hoya.

The most dangerous aspect of this fight is that Floyd is coming up it weight to fight a dangerous puncher. If Floyd can take Oscar's power and counter well, it will be long night for Oscar. Shane Mosely showed how to beat Oscar, and Floyd's speed is even better then Shane's. The question is can Floyd bring enough power up with him to hold off DeLa Hoya, you can believe Floyd watched the tapes and knows this. It's gonna be a great fight, the blogbaba is looking forward to this one.

Mayweather by decision.

There is NO way in hell that Mayweather knocks out Oscar. Mayweather is moving UP to 154. Oscar has fought there before. Mayweather hasn't knocked anyone out at 147, what makes you think he'll knock out the best BOXER, not fighter, he has ever faced at a weight that he's never fought at?

Oscar is still one of the best complete BOXERS in the world (that is defense, power, and finishing ability). Floyd has crazy skills, ut he has bever faced anything like this, especially under these circumstances. Also, remember that Vegas is an Oscar city. That crowd is goign to be behind him, not Floyd

Floyd Mayweather will toy with Oscar. The only reason this fight is happening is because Mayweather's not a household name yet with huge box office appeal. DeLa Hoya will selll the tickets and PPV's and this will be Floyd's launching pad to bigger and better things down the line.

Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather would win by close decision because he will move all night landing enough punches to win more rounds. My opinion now as stated the last two times I've answered this is that Mayweather will win by close decision because of the movement and landing more punches but if DeLaHoya can get to Mayweather several times each round slowing him down toward late in the fight Mayweather is in trouble. So my prediction is Mayweather by close decision.

Oscar De La Hoya will win. Mayweather hasnt fought anybody worth mentioning. Just like kieran27 said. he is just like Jones jr!!! who has he fought? Just a bunch of guys that he outclassed then whooped them. dela hoya has fought all comers. yes he has lost but at least he has faced everyone. and dont get me started how he was robbed at least 3 times in fights he has lost. Mayweather has never faced anyone this fast, hits this hard and is this skilled ever in his life.

De La Hoya has been underdog in much of his last fights. He is in declining status but he has surprised all of us lately. Bottom line, De La Hoya has seen more grueling fights than Mayweather, so I based on experience I would give my vote to De La Hoya. De La Hoya is training harder than he has before. It will be De La Hoya's capstone fight of his career. If he wins this one, he can hands down retire and the legend will forever be remembered.
