Hi Tigercfi!
The Great Dane combines, in its regal appearance, dignity, strength and elegance with great size and a powerful, well-formed, smoothly muscled body. It is one of the giant working breeds, but is unique in that its general conformation must be so well balanced that it never appears clumsy, and shall move with a long reach and powerful drive. It is always a unit-the Apollo of dogs. A Great Dane must be spirited, courageous, never timid; always friendly and depend-able. This physical and mental combination is the characteristic which gives the Great Dane the majesty possessed by no other breed. It is particularly true of this breed that there is an impression of great masculinity in dogs, as compared to an impression of femininity in bitches. Lack of true Dane breed type, as defined in this standard, is a serious fault. Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Great_Dane/
Because of his giant size, the Great Dane should be thoroughly obedience trained when young so it will be manageable when fully grown. Teach this giant dog not to lean against people, especially children. Some individuals are dog-aggressive, especially with same sex dogs. It is good with other dogs if it is raised with them from puppyhood. This breed may be slightly difficult to train.

Danes are excellent dogs. They are gentle giants, great with children of all ages, easy to train, they are just big couch potatoes. Their exercise requirements are low they actually say not to run them at all 15-20 min of walking a few times a day will due just fine. Like any other dog they should be trained young but since they are giants when full grown training will be harder if not taken care of when young. Their downfalls are that they only live for a short while usually 7-10 years. They are prone to many health disorders such as bloat, hip displaysia, heart problems, joint problems, and are prone to cancer. It is important that if you do the research and if you still decide that this is the breed for you to go to a reputable breeder who can give proof of the parents genetics, also a health and hip guarantee should come with the dog if purchased from a reputable breeder. I have a Dane pup he is 6 weeks old and is already housebroken and crate trained he is the best dog by far that I have ever owned and one of the smartest.

Great Danes are wonderful dogs, the saying goes 'they are gentle giants' which is so true. The only unfortunate thing is that they live shorter than most breeds, their life expectancy is about 10 to 11 years. They also eat A LOT and are prone to bloatation, which can be fatal if not detected early, which isn’t easy to spot. However yes they are loving, beautiful dogs , their only fault is having so many health problems.

They are wonderful dogs as long as you have the space to keep them and a budget big enough to feed them. They are very sweet, gentle companions. The only downside is they have short lives - averaging about 7-8 years.

All dogs are good dogs...it's the people who adopt them and train them to be bad that give some dogs the appearance of being bad!

The are wonderful dogs as long as you don't let one get away from you when you are taking it for a walk like happened to me one time!
It was like trying to catch a pony! Thankfully a motorist at a stoplight grabbed her leash and held her for me.

They're lovely dogs. ^^ They're a bit hard to take care of because they are so big, though. And they are good with kids.

They are wonderful. I had one, a female. She was very protective of the baby though. You had to announce yourself before entering his room. she slept under his crib. (don't know how she fit lol)
They take alot of time a attention, cuz they are so big. ANd you need alot of room.
