get up off that wallet, take the shirt and patches to the cleaners at the NEX as the tailors that work there know exactly where to put everything IAW navy regs and to be honest - its not that expensive, and will pass any inspection - even mine. This is an excellent resolution for either officer/chief chokers or enlisted jumpers, and if it is for officer/chief dress blues shirts - then there are no patches to be sewn on just slide on eppelets for the zeros.

The Dress White Jumper could have up to THREE insignia SEWN on:

a) Rating / Rate patch (upper-left arm)
b) Unit Rocker (right shoulder)
c) Service Stripes (lower left arm)

Working White Shirt would have all but the Service Stripes.

The should be sew on IAW NAVPERS 15665I . See the link for exact and complete placement requirements: http://buperscd.technology.navy.mil/bup_updt/508/unireg/chapter4/chapter_4sec1.htm

Most who reach Petty Officer 3rd Class spend the little bit of cash to have this done professionally at a dry-cleaner.

I've never been in the military, but I think the idea is the blind stitch. Instead of going over under with the thread in an even way, anytime you are on the visible patch side, you should use the smallest stitch possible (try to put your needle back in the same place it came out, but miss by a thread or two). You make all of the distance around the patch with the stitches on the underside of the shirt where you can't see the threads.

Your question is too limited to answer. What kind of "patch" are you talking about. A rating badge, a command rocker, a hash mark. We don't call our stuff a patch so go figure, we don't know what you are talking about. Boy Scouts wear patches. Is this for you? Are you active duty or is it for somebody else that is active duty. If this is a fashion thing, if so forget about it. Put some detail into your question, you might get the correct answer you are seeking.

If they are in the u.s. navy you need to get approval first. Otherwise a tailor can do it for you. But I don't think the Navy puts patchs on thier uniforms. They use pins.

your rank badge hash mark if you have one and command rocker are sewn on look in your bluejacket manual. the rocker goes on the right shoulder at the very top of the sleeve. hash marks go on the lower left forearm and the rank badge goes up on the left shoulder all of these are sewn on to the uniform.to make it look its best take them to a taylor as professional looking is vital
