I've always been successful taking zinc, iron, and vitamin C. They have packets called Emergen-C. You add them to water. It's a better way to take Vitamin C because your body will absorb more of it faster due to it's liquid form. Also drink lots of water and get as much rest/sleep as you can.
Get well soon!

Zinc lozenges and extra vitamin C. This is what my doctor told me to do for 'cold' and 'flu' symptoms, and I've done it ever since ... and I am only 'half as sick' for 'half as long' as I was before ... and I'd rather have 'a quarter of a cold' than have a 'bad cold,' and I think that you would, too.
Take two Zinc and a C right away, then take one Zinc every hour that you are awake for the next two days and one extra Vitamin C for a week ... use the Zinc Lozenges that you can 'suck' (they don't taste all that good, but they aren't bad, either) rather than the 'pills' you swallow whole, because the Zinc gets into your system faster if you can 'suck it' down ... and it also helps fix the 'sore throat' and cough at the same time.

Vitamin C always helps me. You can get the kind that fizzes in a glass of water and just gulp it down. It is like drinking a Red Bull energy drink, and will fight your beginning cold symptoms. (or instead of pills and powders, you could always eat a REAL orange for vitamin c!)
I also usually try to drink as much water as i possibly can.

Fill up on Vitamin C. Try to get the tablets with zinc in them. Berocca make them. Just ask at the chemist. They're great, I use them all the time to try and keep my immunity levels up. Also, either eat lots of citrus fruits, oranges, lemons and berries too or perhaps have freshly squeezed orange juice.
Rose hips tea is also a really good source of Vitamin C.
Because vitamin C is excreted in two to three hours, depending on the quantity of food in the stomach, and it is important to maintain a constant high level of C in the bloodstream at all times, take it with breakfast and dinner.
Also, just make sure you stay warm................ :0)
PEACE

Saline nose drops kill 95% of germs which cause a cold. Take those and vitamin C, and maybe Tylenol Cold caps.

zinc, echinacea
also I use Hyland's cough syrup, available from Amazon for MUCH cheaper than it would be anyplace else; it doesn't do much for coughs, but is WONDERFUL at getting rid of colds much sooner than anything else
