Does it vary by breed? I know this question may seem dumb. But it has been a long time since I have had a puppy.

Thanks!

It does vary by breed. Tiny dogs can be adult size at 6mos. The large breed(giant types) will be l8mos. to 2yrs. old before completely mature. Some of the big breeds have growing spurts and must have a calcium supplement in their diet so the bones can keep up. Some will be eating puppy chow for a much longer time than others. Also the taller breeds need to have a stool to set the food on so that they can eat properly. .

The smaller the dog the faster they grow and then stop!I have found that Pomeranians grow pretty fast up until around 7-8 months and then they just fill out and expand their mind from that point. They are fully grown at 1 year for sure. Some will gain weight if they are spade or neutered.Of course they are considered puppies up until 1-2 yrs since they can live to be 25 yrs old.I have a 17 yr old Pom that still runs and plays with the puppies and no one can believe his age!!!!It basically depends on the type dog .

The only dumb question is one not asked!

It varies w/ each breed. A toy dog will be "adult" size at around a year & a giant breed could take up to 4 or 5 years to reach "adult" size.

Dogs are puppy's until the age of 2 so they should stop growing after the age of 2.

It varies by breed, usually the larger the breed the older they are when they finish growing. Small dogs usually at about 8 months, larger dogs at about 18 months.

Physically they're basically full-sized by a year. They may still chub up, but height and bone structure is in place. But mentally it may take 4 or 5 years before they get their heads to grow into their bodies.
