Most cats bathe themselves most of the time. Sometimes they won't if they were taken from mamma too early and haven't been taught (one of mine goes to groomer every month because of this). Other reasons you might need to bathe them is a flea bath if they get those, or if they get into something they shouldn't have eaten and get diarrhea. The rest of the time, they're fine as they are.

No you don't really have to bathe a cat. Can if you want to, just be prepared for a battle as they do not like it. Don't bathe very often as that will cleanse off alot of the natural oils. Some, most, cats go their entire life without a water bath. Most do all the cleaning themselves unless sick. May have to help them out once in awhile, but not to much.

Only if they need it for some reason (got into something stinky or dirty or sprayed by a skunk). Otherwise, they pretty much take care of it themselves.

Some people bathe their cats regularly if there is someone allergic in the house. Bathing reduces dander and if the allergy is mild, sometimes regular bathing can help allow owners to keep the cat.

They do clean themselves but u should also give them a bath every once in a while. Try going to a pet store and picking up some shampoo for cats. Your kitty would smell alot better. ( and yes im talking about the cat!!!)

They clean themselves. You should only bathe a cat if you have allergies or if the cat smells bad. If your cat is a bit dusty or gross, you can wet a paper towel and wipe the dirt off. Let the cat dry off somewhere warm because they can catch a chill pretty easily since they're covered in fur. Brushing is also good for keeping their fur clean and shiny-looking and it's a good bonding experience. If you have a long haired cat, you might have to comb them everyday, because they are prone to getting mats in their fur which can hurt them. Outdoor cats should get brushed more often and checked for fleas, too.

I'm lucky. Our cat likes to hang out in the tub when we shower, so she stays clean automatically. She also likes to wade, so if we're having a bubble bath, kitty gets locked out.

If you have a long haired cat, you should bathe them at least once a year.

Let me tell you though, I did bathe mine and I don't know who disliked it more, her or me. I ended up with a bunch of battle wounds. Anyways, the next time I bathe my cat, she will be taken to a professional.

Okay, generally speaking I would say NO do not bath your cat - let him do it himself.
They usually find it quite horrifying and cat bathing is definately what you would call a dangerous sport.
I have done it a couple of times when kitty was truly disgusting but unless you have a wild desire for risk taking I wouldn't advise it.
And btw it is true that a wet cat can fly

NO.
But when sometimes they get stinky, and need some help. So i mix 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water, in a bowl, dip a brush into it, brush your cat. They have no clue you are wetting them. The vinegar is non toxic - use instead of store bought shampoos. Cats lick themselves, don't put anything toxic on them. Even a towel dried with a bounce sheet, is bad for them to roll on, the bounce sheet coats their fur. Toxic.

yea, you can bath cats if you want to... they are already clean, but they still smell sometimes, so this is one of the main reasons why people actually bath their cats. just make sure you bath them with warm water, and with proper shampoo.
they might tend to have ticks if theyre not clean.. so there you go.. its better for you to clean you cats once a while :)
