What discoveries and advances has religion made?

Yes and no. Religion is certainly a form of 'social technology' since 'religion' is what humans 'made or invented' when dealing with our faith in gods. It is also, in many ways, a form of 'science' since most religions either postulate 'proof' that there is a god, or proof that no proof can be given for the existence or non-existence of a god.
To me, though, and I am a person who has a deep faith in God (the Judeo-Christian God that is also the Muslim's Allah), I have the 'bad' tendency to think of 'religion' in the general sense of being 'beyond' all 'earthly reason' ... and I have long 'talks with' God (it's called PRAYING) ... and no, I don't 'hear' any answers, but I can 'look around in this world' and can tell you that I can see God's miracles all the time. I gave birth to five children ... after being told by many doctors that it was 'physically impossible' for me to even get pregnant, with more 'impossibilities' in carrying any to term. My husband had a major stroke ... and came out of it FAR BETTER than he was before he had a stroke. I've had primary cancer twice and have had 'metastatic cancer' at least seven times ... and I am still alive and well. These are just a few of the 'big reasons' I believe in God and his GOODNESS and LOVE ... and you may 'believe' or 'not believe' as you want (God did give us 'free will' for a good reason), and I'll still 'love you' and 'pray for you' to be healthy and to have a good life. Careful observation and experimentation have been consistently overturning religious dogma for the last few centuries. So, no, I do not think religion is a form of social technology or science.

I don't think so. Science approaches learning in a systematic manner and is based on evidence.

Religion is based on faith, and at times, a lack of evidence is offered as proof of the veracity of religion. Science is predicated on what can be tested, and in religion, testing is often scorned.

I think that science, philosophy and religion are different methods of searching for truth, but they search for different sorts of truth and have their own tools to do so.

Some refer to religious technologies, but this does not imply that true science is a part of a religious system.

I cannot qualify the term "social technology". If you are saying that religion is one means to manipulate people and keep them in line, I agree. I don't think that it's a science, though.

I have CHRISTianity and not religion. I got over religion years ago and came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as the Apostle Paul did on the road to Damascus.

I disagree. I believe a true relationship with what you believe is powerful and ultimately confirms your mind to what you believe is science.

I don't have a "religion". I serve God. You can debate all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that you will stand before God on Judgement Day and give Him an account for your life.

It can be perceived as such.

It is mind control and that could fall under the umbrella of psychiatric technique.
