I need to grab a couple of images from a DVD i made in iDVD on my MAC laptop. Using grab doesnt work when trying to get a selection grab when dvd playback is in use
And I have got the orignal imovie fles

I downloaded a program called SnapNDrag. Works great.

Unfortunatley a DVD is a final format. The files are authored and therefor un-editable. You'll have to capture the frames or sections you want in a round about kind of way. Do you have an analogue A/V breakout box? If so, you can capture the sections through that by playing them out of a standard DVD player.
If you have the original files then import them into either iMovie or whichever editing program you prefer.
In iMovie, drag the play head to the frame you want. Then go to File>Save Frame. This will bring up your save options, from there your job is done.

Have you tried Apple-Shift-4 and then do a selection drag?
